@fluepke@chaos.social erinnert mich an eine Lücke von 3com aus ca 2005. Anhand der Device Mac ließ sich das Passwort eines hidden super User errechnen. Weiß ich aus erster Hand weil ich das mal brauchte um auf solchen Switches an die config zu kommen weil die Zugangsdaten wohl verloren gingen 🙈😅

But still: What is the benefit of a memory safty language for century old tools where the chance is very high, that they are Already memory safe. And when memory safety is the primary concern, why not invest the developer time to make the existing tools memory safe?

@kaffeeringe Schwieriger Vergleich. Auch wenn ich Linux bevorzuge. Aber auch unter Windows gibt es ein "Home" Verzeichnis in dem Programme ihre Daten speichern, im Verzeichnis vom Benutzerprofil. Häufig unter Appdata
