Favourite ttrpg games: old world of darkness (vampire the masquerade, wraith the oblivion), Cyberpunk 2020.

Epson, and their ecotank printer, was the only one I could find that didn't screw their customer with ink scams. But now that I'm ready to strangle their customer service until their stupid soul seeps down to hell, does anyone know other brands I could try?

No registrations, no need to connect the printer online, no ink scams. Just a good old-fashioned printer, without any bullshit.

Some first world problems.

My new printer, only 4 months old, does not work properly. And Epson is of course giving me the run around, vis-à-vis customer service. Based on how goddamn useless and nonsensical their answers have been, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm talking to an AI.
I was excited for this ecotank printer. No more getting screwed by having to buy overpriced printer ink. Print quality has been excellent, when it works. Unfortunately, it has almost never worked properly, no matter how much maintenance and calibration I do. Now that their customer service seems to be non-existent, I'm hesitant about whether I want to replace this, or just get my money back.

New clothes I ordered came in a wrong size, so back to the store they also go. I already hate buying clothes, so it's somewhat annoying to have to send these back.

To top it all of, a new HDMI switch that just arrived yesterday also has to be returned. It apparently doesn't support all the resolutions that the specs claim it does. Or it is broken, who knows. I know for a fact that every cable in use is more than good enough, so the problem is not that.

Like I said, first world problems.

I love used books. But they have to be in a fairly specific condition to elicit a happy reaction on a scale of 1 to googol. The pages have to be faded to that certain yellowish colour, the cover should have some signs of wear & tear, but not too much. The pages should be almost in full condition structurally, with no major tears, and maybe a couple of dog-eared pages.

If a book satisfies these conditions, it will make me giddy with excitement. It's fun to look at the marked pages, or where the book seems to naturally open, and wonder if that page was someones favourite. And if so, why it was. Who owned this before?
Also, I do enjoy the smell of old books.

Me: (reading about autistic streotypes) People on the autism spectrum have trouble in social situations.
Me: -watching dudes try pickup lines that result in a drink thrown in their face, people stabbing someone because of a misunderstanding, couples getting divorced because they don't know how to talk to each other, literally any kind of foreign policy.

I've never had any of those things happen, and yet I'M supposedly the one with problems in social situations??? Yeah right.

I can't remember for sure if I've told this story before, so I guess my apologies if I did. A story of a time when the Finnish equivalent of a SWAT team interrupted our cyberpunk 2020 gaming session.

This happened years ago. A friend was living in a bad part of the city. The worst, actually, in a small flat on the third floor. We were having a rousing session of cyberpunk 2020, and we apparently got a bit loud without us realising it.
It was an old building, with very little soundproofing between apartments. After a while, the doorbell rings. I go to check it out, and trying to look out of the door viewer, I see only blackness for some reason. Weird, I think. Then, I hear a voice:
- Police here, could you open the door?

Very strange, I think to myself. I open the door, and as soon as it opens a little, a damn swat team with riot shields and full-body armour bursts in, pushing me against a wall. The cops fan into the apartment, ordering everyone down. I would say that I was freaking out, and it would be true.

After every single one of us was secured, the cops ask some questions. Apparently, an old lady living next door had heard some disturbing talk coming from behind the wall.
Since this was a game of cyberpunk 2020, she had heard things like "shoot that guy in the head, I stab you in the throat", and other stuff like that. So, she called the cops, and they took it seriously.

They laughed hard after it became clear that we were just playing a game. Told us to maybe lower our speaking volume a bit, and then left.

Me: (with a voice dripping murderous rage) NOT.GOOD.ENOUGH! :: turns to side, falls asleep ::

Later in the day, after I wake up and walk to a window.
Me: (looking outside) Huh, I guess we live in the dark world now. :: starts making morning tea :: Well, what's done is done.

Credits start rolling.

What going to a doctor is like here:
- Before your appointment, you will be asked to fill out a form with all necessary information. These answers will not be saved anywhere, nor will anyone read them.
- When at your appointment, you will be asked to fill out exactly the same form. These answers will also not be saved or read by anyone.
- A nurse will take this form, and then ask you all the same questions that you have answered twice already. A few of these answers will be relayed to a doctor.
- A doctor will ask most of these questions once more. They even might listen to you, if you're lucky.

- Go home, read an article mentioning how much time is wasted on pointless paperwork in healthcare.
- Smash head against a wall until passing out, in a desperate last ditch attempt to make this world make sense.

I was flabbergasted when I learned that for many, many people who play ttrpgs, that hobby essentially means D&D. Seemed like very few had played, or actually even heard, about other systems.
Which seems insane to me, considering how many other systems there are.

Play D&D if you like it, that's absolutely okay. I'm certainly not knocking it. I just personally don't really care for it. To me, it kind of is like picking the vanilla flavour, when there are so many other different options to choose from.

Also, a little side note regarding how ttrpgs are more acceptable now, and more mainstream. While I'm happy to have more people in the hobby, there is one downside: we old timers lost all street cred the hobby gave to us. :blobfoxcrylaugh:
When people saw us carrying a bunch of roleplaying books in the streets, they feared us! Parents ushered their kids to other side of the street, scared that I will use my demonic witch powers to convert little Timmy-Sally to a goth who plays vampire the masquerade.
That is respect. Well, that's fear, to be precise. But fear is better. Respect can vanish quickly, but most people can't stop fearing easily. 🤘

Business idea: rollerblade disco shower.

First, the customer either gets naked, or puts on a swimming suit, then lathers themselves in soap. Then, they skate through a modified car wash tunnel a few times on rollerblades, with showers everywhere washing them while disco lights and the greatest disco hits embrace them.

At the other end, a towel and their clothes are waiting for them in a locker room.
