Hey @mewproj@fwoof.space, when there's a new update for AGNow, the latest change appears to live at the bottom of the list of changes, meaning that the changelog reads everything from oldest to newest. So instead of me hearing what's new from the very beginning, I have to scroll word by word on MacOS to get towards the bottom of the list, just to see what actually changed between versions. As there's now 33 items in the changelog for Mac, for example, finding what actually changed is going to be rather difficult as new versions come out.

One of the issues that I have with MakeMKV, apart from the fact that their website is always down and there isn't an easy way to get support, is that there isn't an easy way for me to select titles that I want to save from a DVD, and titles that I don't want saved, such as the “Play All" track on TV show discs. This is because saving this particular track takes an extra 5-6 gigabytes of unnecessary storage, and I don't really want to do that. If anyone knows of an easier way to do this, or if they know of an alternative to MakeMKV that saves the DVD as an uncompressed video, which is what I like about MakeMKV and dislike about Handbrake and VLC, please let me know.

So I don’t understand what's up with this drive. Its identical twin that I have is transferring at high speeds, but this one is going slower than slow, using the same cable. One's formatted in APFS, the other one is formatted in XFAT. The APFS drive is working faster than the XFAT by far. Any ideas for how to get this to transfer at actual speed?

I can’t believe it! I accidentally deleted the entirety of my working directory of audio described movies that I’ve been building, and because I wasn’t saving them in iCloud like I thought I had, they’re permanently erased. Now I have to go redo the whole thing, ripping and all.

You know, the wired Apple EarPods are still really good headphones today. If they would just make a version controlled via dongle, that would be designed specifically for computers, I would be sold.

When I said Bluetooth keyboard in my original rant, I generalized, meaning that I meant that if you had access to any physical keyboard, you should be using that. I have a wireless erganomic keyboard that works really well for me, and I have some mechanical options too that I like. I'm kind of a keyboard collector because I don't think I've fully found the one that suits my every need.

And I will agree that some of the cheaper Bluetooth keyboards are not the best, especially when it comes to accuracy. I didn’t think about that when I originally posted, but it is something to definitely consider. My big thing that I was trying to get across was that if you’re using dictation, you need to proofread everything that comes out of it. I’m using it right now because I don’t have access to a keyboard at the moment, but it’s fully proofread.

If you were somebody that relies on dictation for a lot of your daily workflows, please, for the love of God, start learning how to use punctuation within that. It really pisses me off when people don’t use punctuation when they’re typing or writing something out, and all it ends up being is just a string of words. I understand that some people have motor impairments that don’t allow them to use the keyboard like everybody else, but if you are somebody who has full functionality of your hands and fingers, learn to type. You will thank yourself later. Don’t simply rely on dictation just because the touchscreen is harder for you because you’re blind. That’s no excuse. There are so many alternative ways to type that don’t involve the standard onscreen keyboard that there’s really no reason why we can’t have correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar these days. People need to stop relying on Siri for longer, more serious things. It’s great for quick and dirty stuff, I get that, and I use it when I’m walking somewhere and need to get a message out quickly. But when I’m not doing anything, I either type, use braille screen input, a Bluetooth keyboard, or dictation with intentional proofreading. Or I use FloType, which is essentially a rebirth of FlickType. WhisperFlow is also a cool concept, because you can dictate, and it uses AI to intelligently place your punctuation symbols where they need to be. All I’m saying is that there are resources out there that will make you a better typer, writer, and speaker. Use them. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Or is it TED type?

Working on a design for a Bookshare application that would allow you to use natural language to search for specific book suggestions. So like instead of typing, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day", you could say something like “Books for kids that have a strong conflict and resolution for 1st graders". I'm not a programmer, but I feel like I might find Claude to be helpful with this process, and I need to figure out how to access the Bookshare API.
