Many years ago I learned to improve my electronics “hygiene” by being strict about how power is connected/transferred from household AC to my gadgets. One too many blown PSUs during thunderstorm season while on a deadline, I guess. Don’t use power strips, use high-end surge protectors. Cheap ones can still get absolutely rocked and can’t be trusted. Always use high-end OEM charge blocks for phones and for laptop chargers, etc. No good call to spend thousands on electronics then cheap out at the power-transfer part of the deal. Because that’s where most damage is done. Pay for the good stuff now and it will more than pay for itself in the long term. Fewer blown PSUs/inverters/transformers. Longer lasting batteries. I feel like electricity is less like magic fairies floating down wires and more like ropes tugging and rams crashing. I always liked to think about it that way.

I use a calendar. I know this sounds ridiculous to mention it, but I am continually astonished at how few people use it to remember tasks and events.

Wow you totally reminded me of this building I managed several years back now, and they all had washing machines with that only filled a few inches, maybe 8 at most. It was explained to me by my appliance tech, perhaps he’s not entirely correct on somebody may inform me better… But he said they were built to some water savings standard from california, and rather than making different models for different markets, they just foisted the low water ones on people. I remember endless grieving from residents. I also remember a very common complaint of the person above them using their washing machine for 9 hours a day. Well fucking yeah, try having two working parents and three kids and seeing how much laundry you can get done in those pieces of shit!

Yeah but it the scheme of life you’re not out much. I used to repair/rebuild TVs as part of my side hustle and I can absolutely confirm Hisense are the worst for parts, and no they don’t sell them! But also think about it… they’re shit products and the capacitors on the inverters burst constantly. At best you’d get another 1/2 year before the used replacement board went byebye so really? If it helps you feel better. Holy moly the stories I could tell you about how repair un-friendly they purposely make TVs… but I don’t want to get myself all wound up lol

Nobody is afraid of technology. Most people buying this stuff are just gadget goofs with way too much disposable income, nothing more.

To this very day, with only the slightest amount of technical knowledge, you can log onto people’s existing devices, watch their video feeds, initiate print jobs, etc. A ‘haha im hax0r’ amusement from 20+ years ago is still going strong.

I haven’t watched this video, but based on your comment I don’t think I’ll bother. It is my sincere understanding that the degradation of quality is from the companies trying to leverage extended warranties as the true profit center of appliances.
