How could I be sure? Even of there weren’t I might end up learning something interesting. (For example, someone else commented about ‘ghost people’ about China) What you’re saying sums down to ‘don’t ask questions related to controversial topics’. We always need to discuss them.

How do I convince an illiterate family member to let me teach them how to read?
They have never been to school. They’ve never said anything about wanting to read. But when they have to read something, they pretend they forgot their glasses or smth like that. They’re insecure about it. I feel sad for them. That said, they’re pretty stubborn. What can I possibly do to convince them to try learning?
