@QasimRashid@mastodon.social It is so disappointing to see people in the American left support this guy. He was an Abu Ghraib prison guard and later a mercenary for blackwater who never apologized or showed public remorse for any of his actions. If you are willing to brush those things aside just because he supports free healthcare then you likely don't care about the victims of American imperialism and support oppression by the US military throughout the world.

@benroyce@mastodon.social @xri@kolektiva.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu What I am asking here is the bare minimum. There is nothing perfect in wanting for the procedure to be followed and not be stopped without explanation in favor of one of the worst corporations. You are insulting me because you don't have an answer to this reasonable critique and you just want me to shut up through bullying. I won't play into this, either respond on the merits of the argument politely as I do or don't respond at all.

@benroyce@mastodon.social @xri@kolektiva.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu There was an approved fine ready to take place and the commissioner who has btw been involved in a few scandals, scrapped it without any explanation. This is contradictory to their statement and it is our right to call it out. When you also add ai scanners and digital ids, you begin to understand that they push policies sold to them by tech lobbyists against our interests. Sorry, but I will use what little power I have in here to counter their influence.

@benroyce@mastodon.social @xri@kolektiva.social @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu So, pointing out that the statements the EU commission makes are contradictory to their actual policies is mindless cynicism? The fact that they say this and then let google walk away is irrelevant? Stop looking at vibes and start looking at actual policies. The commission has been consistently bad on digital rights (among other things) and they have to be called out if we want to preserve our rights.

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Why is the fine to Google still blocked? And what does the commission mean when they say they are in dialogue with the US about European digital laws? Since when do Americans have a say about what our digital rights should be?

@LillyHerself@mastodon.social Well maybe that's what these democrats who are also liberal zionists actually want. To go back to when the genocide was slower, more silent and could fly under the radar of the median voter, so they can go back to supporting the genocidal state publicly without any political cost.

@jernej@androiddev.social @stux@mstdn.social And pushing for internet censorship is not undemocratic and tyrannical? Are you not at all concerned about where this is going? No one suggested EU shouldn't do research, but since no one is god, we have the right to disagree with that research when see it as problematic. Why are you so angry at people expressing very reasonable concerns?

@jernej@androiddev.social @stux@mstdn.social I did, I just quoted to you their tweet. It does not matter what the rest of the article is saying since their summary for the public was this. It is quite clear from the tweet what their position is on the matter and what they want the public and the commission to take from it. Also they actually define themselves as a think tank and serve the same purpose as think tanks.

@jernej@androiddev.social @stux@mstdn.social The official think tank of EU posted on x the opinion stating:
'Protecting children online is a priority, with new rules being implemented requiring a minimum age for access to some services'.
He is rightfully yelling to the executive branch of EU who will implement the law recommended in this article, because he knows where this is going and wants to prevent it before it passes into law, before it is too late to do anything about it. I hope this answers your question.

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu Didn't Ursula von der Leyen block a fine to Google just this week? How do you reconcile this action from your president with what you posted here? How are you going to protect us from big tech if your president is going to do everything in her power to make sure companies like Google are never held accountable?

@ErikUden They have been doing that since the 60s.
'And what kind of alibi do they come up with? They try and pass the buck to the Dixiecrats. Now, back during the days when you were blind, deaf, and dumb, ignorant, politically immature, naturally, you went along with that. But today, as your eyes come open, and you develop political maturity, you're able to see and think for yourself. And you can see that a Dixiecrat is nothing but a Democrat in disguise.' @EUCommission This is what is commonly known as imperial blowback. Some of the people you oppress and bomb thousands of kms away from you, will eventually want revenge and find a way to hurt your people. The way you support current wars, proves you have learned nothing from history and don't care if we, EU citizens will get hurt in future attacks. If you truly want to honor those victims and protect future ones, stop supporting US/Israeli aggression in the region.

@Spacehistory Israel is not an expansionist state? Have you seen the west bank or Lebanon recently? How many other countries have a minister of settlements? Which of the countries you mentioned actively steal land from other populations and put them under apartheid? These are the two worst countries in the world, not only because they are among the most racist, but because they are also extremely powerful to get away with genocide. There is nothing racist about that.

@ml@social.mitexleo.one After two and a half years of genocide in Gaza we all know the western media m.o. I refuse to believe that there are people who don't understand this because they are naive. If they don't see it, it's because they are content with imperialism and genocide.

@chu AJ made an interesting investigation of the incident. What is not generally known is that the school is located near (but very clearly separated from) a military base. It is basically the school, Iranian military personnel send their daughters. My take is that Israelis deliberately targeted the school to tell Iranian soldiers we will go after your kids if you don't surrender. Zionists are Nazis. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/3/questions-over-minab-girls-school-strike-as-israel-us-deny-involvement?traffic_source=rss

@leavex@mastodon.social The fact that many Americans think that billionaires are simple citizens who have no authority and just caved to fascism, indicates a profound lack of understanding of power structures. These people make decisions that are directly translated to policy, you people need to start understanding how the world works or you will be in trouble.

@tzimmer_history Your analysis seems correct given the historical evidence you provide. However it completely ignores US imperialism, its role in shaping American exceptionalism and nationalism not to mention how authoritarianism imposed by the US military on other countries is then used as a blueprint at home (see imperial boomerang). You are only looking half the picture.

@crazyeddie@mastodon.social @masek@infosec.exchange @randahl@mastodon.social Sadly I don't think facts are enough. You can easily open a book and see what US imperialism does around the world. The issue is that the average westerner does not want to confront facts that don't reinforce their world view. Also they benefit materially more from not confronting their bias.

@mattblaze@federate.social They never said they wanted to invade Iraq or bomb Yemen or kidnap the president of Venezuela but they don't actually care what their government does to other countries. The only thing they care is consumer goods and as long they get the crumbs of the goods their imperialism brings home, they won't do anything to stop this.
