Here's the quilt top I pieced on my computerized Janome machine and then assembled with my new vintage Singer. All thrifted fabric. I want to back it with dark fabric close to the blackish one on the top. No luck so far as the search continues. I may just purchase fabric but I'm in no hurry. The finished size is 60"x66"/152x168 cm.

@inarticulatequilter@mastodon.art I was thinking just a random cloud of them sort of emulating sleet or snow. They'd be denser near the middle then spread out more toward the edges of the circle. I've decided to go ahead and hang it and live with it a while and make up my mind later whether to make that addition.

Fiber Footnote: When it came time for the backing I thought a dark blue would be good even though it won’t show when it’s being displayed. I decided to go to the trusty Dig and Save in search of a good sheet or duvet cover that would work. Could hardly believe it when I found a duvet cover in the perfect color that had a huge tear in it but that didn’t matter to me. Maybe I’ll try “manifesting” my fabric needs more often. 😂

I say it’s almost finished because I feel the circle of oxford cloth that is the focus is a little “loose” and I’m not sure what I want to do with it. I will probably at least machine or hand stitch in the ditches. I’m also considering doing a storm of white and/or blue French knots as I tried on a small test piece. Can’t decide. I’m in no hurry. Feedback is welcome.

Nine thrifted shirts and a technique I made up myself (but probably isn’t original) and I’m almost finished with this piece I’m calling “Storm at Oxford.” It’s machine pieced and big stitch hand quilted with variegated #8 perle cotton and measures 42”x48” (107x122cm.)
