Geophysicist by training. Lover of rocks, ocean, books, and the world in general. ADHD and often unfiltered. Collector of memories, repository of random information. I travel to islands more the continents.

For cultural reference, I'm Texas born, and now an adjunct Professor in the SF Bay Area. I choose not to notice if my students follow me.

The problem with #JackInTheBox having a Philly cheese steak sandwich is that the #DriveThru speakers make it sound the same as "cheesecake".

@impactology This applies to so many aspects of the human existence. We need to make sure to ask ourselves these questions, and that we are working to find the answers. Note: At the beginning of the post, this geophysicist was thinking about volcanoes and faultlines. But my mind cycled through aging infrastructure and landed on social constructs and societal movements and institutions by the end. It was an intellectual and emotional journey I did not expect in so few words.

@Edmonds_Scanner@universeodon.com I'm too loud for foggy moors, but maybe a lady of the waterfall? Or how about screamer in the forests around the volcano? (screenshot from Thursday USGS Kilauea Webcam)

#FensterFreitag
Feels both retro and futuristic here at Lick Observatory. Hope it opens to the public again soon!

@solitha@mastodon.social @ploum@mamot.fr I can't type fastenough to not correct a stream of consciousness a fair bit as I go. My brain fixes parts of the next sentence before I'm done typing the current one. On the other hand, diagrams and math when I'm sciencing tend to be a stream of consciousness record. I X the ones that fail or wander off in a weird direction, so I know which bits are part of the current best answer, but it's not uncommon for those X'ed bits to prove useful in later parts/questions. I am incredibly frustrated that I can't get my physics students to stop erasing! I cannot fathom why they waste their time erasing thoughts. If you make an error, one slash of the pencil tells me not to look at that. (unless you make an error you don't catch and I'm trying to give you extra credit.)
