Have been looking into #CO2 #emissions from server uses, streaming, social media etc. Seems that we are better off with local storage options instead of cloud, and CDs instead of #netflix.
Even if the server is running off pure renewables, the rest of the network isn't.
I'd be interested in any papers that look at this and the solutions such as #green coding, without being too heavy on the netspeak 😃

I've read some articles saying that there's a turn towards renewables, and others saying that there's a fall back on coal. Policy makers always tend to look for easy solutions, it would be a shame not to see this as an opportunity to do better
