@EINS_Institute@infosec.exchange @pluralistic@mamot.fr - yup. but for things like MS Office, the EU is actively supporting the creation of alternatives and banning the use of the incumbents for their own (official) use. Convincing actual citizens to use the alternative rather than the "comfortable" de facto option is a bigger problem than building the alternative in the first place. As you say, incumbents like MS can leverage their huge market dominance, and stopping them is difficult.

@pango@tooter.social @catsalad@infosec.exchange I assume the expectation is that the codebase will be completely regenerated, from scratch, each time (with a slightly improved prompt) Nobody could feasibly maintain the slop, not even the AI that created it.

Google is almost certainly biassed; even if they believe their own offerings are superior to that of competitors (and, most companies at least claim that) it makes sense to check multiple comparison sites to confirm if there is a consensus or if each has its own, different bias. Forcing Google to be biassed in favor of selected EU competitors seems a bit much for a remedy. If the EU wants a EU approved comparison site, there is nothing stopping them creating their own.

@SecureOwl@infosec.exchange - That's probably a good thing though. There's literally no benefit to a moon resort, but a privacy policy that stops your health insurance company having access to your eating habits is probably desirable.
