@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk yep the increases in pension age 'due to people living longer' clashes, which is a trailing indicator, against the leading indicator of quality of life decline (i.e. the ability to work longer) will cause problems.

FFS who would want to go back to hand-washing clothes 🙄. I remember the mangle, washboard etc... at my Grandmothers. So to any romantic CottageCore picture add a filter if winter cold; grey and wet.

@Remittancegirl@mstdn.social however there's an assumption that you can schedule your life to be able to wash & dry it in a day 😉 Also, unusual in winter# in the UK, an assumption it will dry in less than 12 hours without the use of a tumble dryer. A spare fitted sheet takes less space than a tumble dryer. Winter# as in cold & wet for a long period can be relative in the UK covering any period in the year 🤭

@Lana@beige.party up until recently the only time the England flag was waived by anyone was at a football match, on the rare occasions England got to the World Cup Quarter/Semi Finals the country would go flag mad. Any other time and the general opinion was that the individual waving a flag was a twunt / wasn't an English thing to do. Over the past couple of years right wing flaggots called 'raise the flags' started putting flags along roads in the name of 'patriotism' although intimidation, fear and anger is what they brought. They were illegally put up, allegedly dangerous to drivers and some councils, fed up with the cost of removing them & intimidation/ attacks on their employees removing them, got a court injunction to stop it.

Stan is still feeling sorry for himself after opportunistically getting out of the gate (we suspect the postie left a small window of opportunity) and gallivanting across the road to our neighbour's house. This was Thursday so in 35C heat. He got heatstroke 🙄 meaning we couldn't leave him with a relative as dog sitter to visit our great-nieces naming ceremony. He's still off his food but capable of begging for morsels of my breakfast toast. Fortunately it's cooler today. He's not sorry and won't learn from his experience 🤦 #Dogsofmastodon

@Tattooed_Mummy yep when our rescue passed we tried to get another rescue dog but had the basic stipulation that it had to get on with our remaining rescue dog. That, apparently, was not acceptable (around 5 organisations) so we got a puppy.
