That's why I call them Dumocrats ... without a 'b' because I learned only recently that there is a 'b' in dumb. So sad ... if Platner would've been a Rapepublican, he'd still be running. I call them Rapepublicans ... with 'p' ... because in the affidavit from the lawsuit filed by that crazy woman - who I’ve never even met - there was a ‘p’ in ‘rape’ …”

@mattsheffield@mastodon.social I think there is another elephant in the room and it is age. Both the current administration but Congress are considerably old. For instance, in EU parliament the average age of the representatives is at 50 years. This is pretty much the average you'd expect taking the EU's average life expectancy of 82 years and the average eligibility age of 21. The average age in US Congress is at 61 at an eligibility age of 25 and an average life expectancy of 79 years.

@numbercrow@techhub.social @jackwilliambell@rustedneuron.com That is perfectly normal for fascists. When Wallace was Vice President Great Britain and Russia were allies of the US. 80 years later Britain's still an ally of the US, whilst Russia not so ... and consequentially US fascists still loathe Britain and all the other - as they claim - "freeloading" US allies and now praise Russia! The fascists of the 40s would also probably have loved Russia, had Hitler respected the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact and not betrayed the USSR.

@Cdespinosa The desire for superiority is often a consequence of the own inferiority. Women are put off by the Chads’ lack of social skills, which causes the Chads doubling down on toxic patriarchal clichés. Team AI/TechBro consists mainly of college dropouts feeling inferior to graduates and academics and are dreaming teaching them a lesson. And as for team White Supremacy: they're the marginalised, who the ruling class pits against other minorities lest they solidarise and rise up.

@mastodonmigration@mastodon.online Think it's a custom emojis. Some fediverse instances servers provide this feature, but AFAIK not the mastodon instance. Emojis are actually standardised. At least there's a Unicode standard. And beside that, there is the possibility for custom emojis. Since those are however not in the Unicode standard, you cannot replicate them if your server/instance does not provide them.

And Trump indeed knows best when claiming this because he f×cking is part of ... and when I say part of it I mean everything: the pedophile ring, the dark money, the black ops & wet jobs ... literally everything. The best way to cover up a secret is hiding it within in a conspiracy theory! Like Roswell: "Developed some top secret new weapons from Nazi-tech? Make people believe you're hiding aliens." 😬

@bikejourno@ciclista.social WTF!? Italy and Iran are not even in the same association! Italy is in the UEFA and Iran in the AFC ... If Iran were to be disqualified, another AFC member would take their place ... and not a UEFA team. That is not how it is working! But since we're discussing: 1992 Yugoslavia was disqualified from the Euro as a result of the breakup of the country and the ensuing warfare. If we disqualify Iran because of the war - wouldn't we have to do the same for the USA as well?

@reiddragon What did this moron expect? LLMs are actually working exactly that way: they parse the user's input and collate code by using tokenised code snippets in their data base. You never get the same result twice, because even minor subtleties in the prompting can trigger an entirely different decisioning. And yes, when coding you often can address a requirement in different ways. A human would stick to one way, an AI ... not so much. And now he's complaining about inconsistency? 🙄

@EUCommission This treaty was concluded (slightly) less than 6 years after the end of the most disastrous war in the World's and Europe's history. And among the signatories, four former allies and two former axis nations, was still a lot of bad blood and it would take several decades and a new generation of European citizens to overcome this centuries-old hatred and mistrust. This makes this act of foundation so remarkable. It is with our enemies we must make peace, not with our friends!

@arstechnica Why on earth change the way people where accelerating and breaking since over 100 years? That's actually what is wrong with innovation these days: stop innovating for innovations sake! Innovation should improve existing things and have a real added value. If an "innovative idea" does not meet this very basic requirement, it means that it is simply not innovative!

@arstechnica AI assisted coding has the potential to break IT. Firstly, it is questionable whether it is really cost-effective to leave the coding to AI and then invest in human code review. It's more likely, that human review will be cut back on or done away with - which will inevitably compromise security. Additionally, AI is meant to replace entry-level IT jobs, which leads to the question where to get senior-level IT staff from, when they're not more IT entry-level jobs to gain experience?

@mrundkvist @Daojoan No, I am just saying that everyone can be fooled. Believing that this is not the case is dangerous. Of course, education helps building up resilience against disinformation. And, indeed, some people are more resilient to disinformation than others. However, everyone has their soft spot, a weakness or just an area where they're not so proficient. And one should bei aware of that as this also is an expression of a free, open, and resilient mind: know your weakness.

@mrundkvist @Daojoan What makes you think we couldn't turn away, too? There are many reasons, why we haven't yet: maybe we were not the targeted audience (i.e., too left to be flipped), we were not sufficiently exposed (no Facebook, no Shitter, etc), we were too proficient in the field on which the disinformation was spread, etc. Disinformation works like a virus: if you don't have the receptors, you're immune. But make no mistake: there may be a virus out there matching your receptors.

@mrundkvist @Daojoan That is actually what I said: People turning away from information is exactly what I meant when speaking of the new means. Everyone has access to information and knowledge, so people need to be instigated to turn away from it. And this done by providing false information and creating doubt regarding the accessible real and factual information. In the past, poverty and oppression were easy means to keep people uneducated. Today, more proactive ways are required.

@Daojoan It is just a new approach to an old dilemma: Authoritarianism is based on fraud and fraud requires intellectual superiority; i.e., the fraudster needs to know something the deceived doesn't. Hence, knowledgeable people are a threat for autocrats. In the past, access to knowledge was limited, most people couldn't even read. But things have changed and education and knowledge are more accessible. So they've to "pollute" the knowledge through fake information and to shame knowledge.

Just think about it: in 2022, ~31 million Texans consumed 475 TWh on electricity. In France, which has more than twice the population, it was 455 TWh and for Germany (84 million inhabitants) 484 TWh.
