Several years ago I accidentally re-discovered the Gallileian moons of Jupiter with my son’s $25 plastic telescope from Lakeshore Learning.

We have a nicer one now and it’s amazing what you can see.

Jupiter is the big one making the diffraction spike.

IO, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto are all nearly consumed by the spike but clearly visible even when I put my phone up to the viewfinder.

It looks AMAZING in person. My point is you don’t need fancy stuff to enjoy astronomy.

Logged 68 miles and 3600 feet of climbing including the last four consecutive days of cycling this week and I am certainly feeling like it is early in the season and I do not yet have my riding legs.

@gingerbeardman I was having problems with a joystick and my son asked out loud if maybe the USB hub was causing problems. Plugged it directly into the PC and the joystick worked perfectly. The lesson seems to be it’s OK to listen to you kids and Hubble would be a helpful debugging tool
