@NetscapeNavigator@social.vivaldi.net I don't know about Misskey's possible incompatibility, but as far as Mastodon is concerned, with this poll, it has nothing to do with a protocol change, it's supported in Mastodon's backend, and it was supported in Mastodon's front-end until 4.4.0 where it was accidentally broken it is still possible to vote using a third-party client and I have identified the issue and submitted a fix for the Mastodon front-end: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/39949

@NetscapeNavigator@social.vivaldi.net after a quick look, it appears that nothing is wrong on Sharkey's end. This is simply a poll with no expiration date. Mastodon handles them, but it seems currently the web interface does not offer to vote in them. If anything, this is a Mastodon bug.

@spiezmaestro@social.spiezmaestro.ch @MastodonEngineering@mastodon.social yes, libvips replaces ImageMagick, which is not used at all anymore in recent versions of Mastodon, but FFmpeg is still used for audio, video and some animated images

@dusoft @grim_elsewhere it is planned, but it's more difficult than it sounds and we have other priorities glitch-soc indeed has support for writing using Markdown, but it has a few issues that are incredibly difficult to fix (might require writing our own Markdown processor)

@bnut @MastodonEngineering we support a few minor versions because updating from one to another is more involved than updating to a patch version (patch versions do not involve database migrations or updating system dependencies, for instance) of course, supporting older branches is more work, so we don't do that indefinitely

@katzentratschen @frumble yes, i was referring to that; right, it's a click, but before that, the sentence simply wasn't available to be shown fully; it doesn't cut off earlier than it did, it just allows you to see it in a more convenient way when it does

@katzentratschen @frumble do you have a screenshot? This would have happened on the previous version as well, wouldn't it? At least now you can have a modal that shows the full version!

@frumble fields take a whole line if they have to, and get compacted if they have enough room to do so if a profile field is long enough to not fit in a line, an ellipsis button is shown and clicking it opens a modal with multi-line text here is how your profile looks on mastodon.social
