Wow. So apparently only at #Rogers does it take longer than one day to get a phone in store if you're blind. I'm due for an upgrade next month, so I called them this morning to see about getting an iPhone 17. The call went well, I was happy with everything, and the guy set it up to where I could go to the store to sign the paperwork and pick up my phone. I got to the store, and apparently the last step to getting everything going for your phone upgrade is that they have to scan both sides of your ID, as well as your face. I guess an AI bot compares the picture on your ID with the picture on your face. Well apparently the guy buggered it up because he got his hand or something in the way of the camera. So obviously my face and my ID didn't match. You only get one shot at it. He called up the validation team, and the guy he got told him to email this address, explain the problem, and ask for it to be overwritten. That was just before six. And so far there has been no response. So if I don't get one by the time the store closes, I have to come back tomorrow or whenever they approve it. This right here is a perfect example of a conglomerate company implementing a tool which is supposed to guard against identity theft. Unfortunately they haven't implemented an extenuating circumstance override option. Guess why? It appears when they implemented the system, they were ill prepared to deal with things like Accessibility, or not being able to see ones eyes and a clear photo. And they don't take into account that somebody may not be able to make eye contact with the camera. So now I'm going back to get my ID which the guy still has, and I guess I'm coming back here tomorrow. And I hear you all asking. Hey Cam! Why don't you just go with another company? The answer to that is simple, because Rogers has the best call quality in my experience with them, I've been with them for 10 years, so I'm getting some sweet loyalty perks. But if I don't walk out of this mall with my phone in my hand tomorrow, I definitely will cancel everything.
