@goedelchen@mastodontech.de @jackeric@beige.party @codinghorror@infosec.exchange @tante@tldr.nettime.org Corporations guide the decisions of people within or behind them to "maximize shareholder value". Corporations also shield those people from responsibility and diffuse responsibility across multiple people. Large corporations also receive government handouts because they're "too big to fail". The general public shouldn't defend corporations, they should be sceptical of them and occasionally avoid or resist them.

@Primetime @david_chisnall Any single productivity measure for software engineers can be gamed. It's probably already being gamed.

Peter Hegseth's general incompetence can be countered by the expertise of thousands of more experience and wiser commanders.

Not if he fires those commanders with more expertise and wisdom.

@mcnado I agree with the "no punching down" argument, as well as the "slippery slope / they came for the communists" argument. But I'd like to see the "freedom to live your life as you like" argument more. We should all support people's right to live their lives how they want to. I want that right. I want my friends and family to have that right. So, I should want others to have that right. This is (an aspect of) freedom, and it needs to be sold that way.

@cR0w It briefly amazed me, now it just dismays me. I work for the government. Almost all our management and about half the devs are all-in for AI. I'm older and more sceptical. I've seen a few silver bullets fly by in the past, and I don't have much desire to rearrange my job to prompting, reviewing, and hoping the AI code turns out okay. I should be able to hold out until retirement, but younger folks don't have that luxury.

@mcc@mastodon.social @leo@60228.dev @rebane2001@infosec.exchange @citrusui@mastodon.social Thank you both for that information. I haven't worked on "storefront" code, so I wasn't aware of that. I should have remembered embedded YT videos, though.

@mcc@mastodon.social @citrusui@mastodon.social Are there legitimate uses for iframes where the domain of the URL shown in the iframe is different than the site serving it? It seems like they're often used in questionable ways.
