    Centrists want a little bit of oppression and state violence, as a treat. Just enough to keep those unruly minorities and queers in line... To keep you feeling safe and to allow you to feel like your kids won&#39;t be groomed by cross-dressing weirdos or threatened by brown people on the way to the bus stop. But not so much oppression that unseemly *visible* violence happens in front of you. There are people to take care of these things out of view, where you don&#39;t have to see such things.

    I wonder how long one has to huff the fumes from one&#39;s own privilege to actually believe that people wind up in the upper reaches of established political power because of knowledge and experience.     Reason #25,496 as to why the Democrats deserve to have their asses handed to them in the election. I&#39;ve been saying this over and over again: if you abandon your core constituents, you deserve to lose. And trans people are hardly the only core constituents that Dems have done this to. We&#39;re one of many. If you shit on the people who vote for you, you don&#39;t deserve their support.

    No, it&#39;s not new. The Democratic party and their talking heads have been chasing conservative white voters for well over 30 years. The only difference is that the spin shifted from &quot;middle class&quot; to &quot;working class&quot; to reflect the overall downward mobility of u.s. society as a whole. The Dem Party has always missed their pre-1960s days when their party included Southern Democrats, the rabid white racists and segregationists who migrated to the GOP after that decade.

    I didn&#39;t realize until today that Linsey Graham had replaced Strom Thurmond. I remember Strom Thrumond. He was a completely wretched, racist, right wing bag of shit.     YUP. I remember being deathly afraid of the christian god as a little trans kid. I was convinced that their god was going to torture me with fire for all eternity, burning me over and over again after I died because I was queer. I literally spent an entire summer in elementary school obsessed with and depressed over my impending death because of toxic religious crap. The religion is social control through fear and abuse. The christian god is a divine embodiment of an abusive father archetype.

    I never personally found community in sports. I found emotional abuse, violence, trauma, and exclusion. I found a reason why other children despised me and wanted nothing to do with me. (Because I was so terrible at most sports.) In a word, sports was the opposite of community for me. Being alone was preferable. I spent much of my childhood alone.
