We're now actively seeing attrition on people contributing to the ActivityPub Trust & Safety taskforce because we've failed to secure funding to pay people to do the required work, which is to the detriment of the entire fediverse. It is not pretty or headline catching work, but it is necessary work that underpins the very social fabric of the fediverse. Contrary to seemingly popular belief, FediMod FIRES and the protocol I created for it is so much more than just "blocklist synchronisation" It's designed to give moderation teams choice in what they pull from providers and how that's applied to their server. Friendly reminder: last year I built FediMod FIRES, a protocol and reference server implementation for sharing moderation data. I haven't yet been able to get anyone to adopt it or even signal intent to adopt. I&#39;m super hyped to announce that Bluesky Socal PBC has given me a grant to work on the Federated Credential Management (or FedCM) standards to make them really work for all decentralized web applications. This is why I stepped up to be an Invited Expert with the W3C FedID Working Group earlier in the year. The missing part at that time was &quot;how do I fund this work?&quot; so I&#39;m super happy that Bluesky Social PBC really came through with a grant to fund this work....
