Say what you want about the Bluesky/Attie/Graze situation, but let's be real: Graze wouldn't even be allowed to exist on the fediverse, especially when the dominant player (Mastodon) has 10x or 100x the funding of everyone else and whilst they could implement custom feeds they've been deciding not to. If memory serves, @newsmast received push back on attempting to bring custom feeds to the fediverse back in 2024. Some servers opted to run forks to get them, and a whole heap of people use phanpy because of it's amazing custom catch-up feed. You can pretend the power dynamics on the fediverse are different, but they're really not: you have one dominant player that gets to decide everyone else's features.
