Remember when Obama was going to be the Most Transparent White House Ever? … and then he won a Nobel Peace Prize for killing people with drones. Anyway, in case you missed it, Trump is working hard at being the Most Corrupt White House Ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9iZ10yIRwM story from John Oliver You can just pay Trump for whatever legal trouble you need to get out of. As CoffeeZilla puts it, "crime is legal now."

Economically speaking, was Pokémon Go a fair trade? CIA gets: you crawled public spaces and 3D scanned the spaces for them. You get: a fun game that integrates physical exercise.

Enshittification is EVERYWHERE, even when the product managers might not have meant to make it worse. Vivaldi (Chromium) automatically starts OCRing a PDF with a missing text layer. It's eating my CPU time. How do I turn off the OCR? https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/119135/can-t-disable-automatic-text-extraction-from-pdf-s You don't turn it off.

@siina since you're asking for real alternatives to NextCloud I'll namedrop https://alternativeto.net/software/xwiki/about/ . I have not seriously tried it but I've considered it a few times. It's a free software "enterprise" wiki like Notion or Confluence. Rich text and tables go in pages, preferably, instead of attachments. Might be worth checking out.

Well, I gave GNOME a "serious try" for 5 minutes, after being handed a remote desktop VM in which to do a work task. Can cross that off my todo list. How is GNOME a thing, that people use? I want to see the All Applications list. I had to click THREE UI elements to get there, and nothing afforded me a keyboard shortcut hint along the way. No Dark Mode. No "reduce motion" mode. Basically, you don't configure GNOME.

Shouldn't a podcast get a boost in notability if other notable podcasts mention it? If it worked that way I guess you'd have an arms race with the sloppers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MYxtL0AW2g Oh boy! It's Ubuntu Release Day! Who's still using Ubuntu? I think I'm going to stay on Kubuntu 24.04 long enough to pick and learn how to use an immutable distro which is not based on Debian or Ubuntu. This will probably require me to migrate project VMs from VirtualBox to VirtManager.
