RE: https://mstdn.social/@kibcol1049/117076688416367298 "Gone Girl" at the top of the list? People have some strange ideas. I found it disgustingly misogynistic.

There are some popular masto posts that I am just not meant to boost or talk about because I don't want the subject to take any more space in my brain than it already does due to our current culture.

Oooo. I'm being recruited. This time, it actually looks genuine. Now to decide whether I want to take a job at the company for which I'm being recruited. Hybrid versus the freedom to not go to an office at all? Hmmmm.

Love the snark here! ISPs' long nightmare of having to list all the fees they charge is finally over FCC lets ISPs stop listing all fees after companies complained it was too hard. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/07/isps-long-nightmare-of-having-to-list-all-the-fees-they-charge-is-finally-over/

Dear Humanware, Good god! How many emails do you need to send out to tell me that You'll be increasing your prices? And, since you're being "transparent" and all, how about you tell me what the prices will be for your products. I mean you do want to serve us poor folks *transparently!* Don't you? #accessibility #a11y

Your feedback is important. This year's survey includes questions about AI usage. This only took me a few minutes. WebAIM's Screen Reader User Survey is open now through August 31. If you are a screen reader user, your responses help shape more accessible digital experiences for everyone. I have mixed feelings about this. Apple quietly launches a catalog of #books narrated by #AI on its Books app, in a move that publishers, authors, and agents warn may upend the #audiobook market. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/jan/04/apple-artificial-intelligence-ai-audiobooks #Bookstodon

I’m excited to announce the first public release of Terminal Access for NVDA: an add-on focused on improving the NVDA experience when working in terminal/console applications. Inspired by TDSR and Speakup, there's quite a bit of functionality here. I welcome contributions. Issues and PRs welcome. Lots of testing needed. I posted this earlier. But, ... This thing is genuinely funny. Who needs The Onion? One example: "You are assassinating everyone with the authority to negotiate and then complaining, with what appears to be genuine bewilderment, that nobody will negotiate. This is the diplomatic equivalent of burning down every restaurant in town and then leaving a bad Yelp review about the lack of dining options." https://no01.substack.com/p/march-19-21-god-is-a-comedian

Wonder of wonders—and not surprised by this at all, Lenovo's Vantage utility lets me change how the function key operates, let's me reverse the defaults by allowing me to use the function keys as they were intended rather than the junk they usually are, and allows me to switch the keyboard backlight completely off. I don't have to worry about going into the bios. Then again, There's a utility that lets you access the bios in Windows. I'll take those #ac...

This somehow seems false. Either this is wrong or their Windows 12 plans (as reported) are false. Microsoft sidelined some Copilot-branded AI features on Windows 11 after the Recall delay, and shipped some promised features without the Copilot name. https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/microsoft-quietly-scraps-plans-to-bring-copilot-to-notifications-and-settings-on-windows-11-as-it-moves-to-reduce-ai-bloat-across-the-os
