Wonder of wonders—and not surprised by this at all, Lenovo's Vantage utility lets me change how the function key operates, let's me reverse the defaults by allowing me to use the function keys as they were intended rather than the junk they usually are, and allows me to switch the keyboard backlight completely off. I don't have to worry about going into the bios. Then again, There's a utility that lets you access the bios in Windows. I'll take those #accessibility wins any time.
