I like the fact that on the Fedi, Boosts are actually an act of agency. On Xitter, retweeting didn't really mean people would see the post you're sending over. It was more about hoping the algorithm will notice the post and show it to people. Not even necessarily people that see your posts. Just, in general. you're vaguely pointing to a thing and hope people somewhere see it. But probably not. A Mastodon/Fedi post being Boosted is actually you, personally, showing people what yo...

So I'm thinking about tattoo ideas on account of my 40th birthday coming up. I really really want my first tattoo for my 40th birthday. I almost definitely want the tattoo related to my spirituality, my witchcraft and my Slavic heritage. So obviously I looked for symbols representing Mara/Marzanna/Morena, the goddess I feel the most kinship towards. And it came up with this cross symbol. But, obviously there are Pagan religious symbols, including Eastern European ones, that have been coo...

This is gonna get me in hot water (no pun intended), but I feel like I want to say a few words. I "can't wait" to see the comments... ugh. But here goes. Just saw a post talking specifically about the weather in Central Europe. Central Europe, huh. So the person likely meant like Germany, Poland, Denmark, Czechia, *maybe* France? I live in Poland. Is that Central European enough for ya? Am I allowed to talk about this? The post talked about the heat wave, and talked about how A...

I loved sunglasses since I was a little kid. I thought they were extremely cool. But sadly, I started wearing glasses at the age of 7. So I never owned a pair of sunglasses in my life. My idea of their coolness evolved but I was always bummed that I couldn't wear them. I tried wearing contact lenses briefly in High School, but it was too hard on my eyes. In keeping with the general theme of my life in recent years of doing stuff that I've Always Wanted To Do, and seeing (no pun intend...

He's still going xD No, you can't put on a mask of civility after telling the same people to fuck off a few hours earlier. That's not how it works. https://federate.social/@mattblaze/116940344518912856

I DID IT!! I FOUND THE VOICE! Took me only three years or so. I found a voice that sounds more feminine to another person, that I can use without strain in my throat, that I can produce reliably, and that I don't hate on a recording. It sounds very weird but it's just a base. I've never, ever, ever come close to finding a base voice that works for me. It's not what I want but it doesn't sound like my male voice with a modifier applied. Three fucking years and I finally h...

Putting on bright red lipstick that stays on so you don't have to constantly reapply it. Then putting the same colour lipstick on top that comes off easily, so your kisses leave marks. Is this anything?

Second day of the sf&f convention. Today I decided to go a "bit" bolder and my outfit is taking no prisoners. My wife hated it. Can't imagine why ^_^

TIL that Mozart had a sister who was also a child prodigy but whose music career ended at 17 because it was understood that she was supposed to get married rather than continue performing. She was described as one of the greatest piano players in Europe when she was a kid. The fact that I didn't even know of her existence until today kinda says it all, doesn't it.

I write a lot about my ongoing discovery of just how good cis women are to trans girls when they have not been preemptively made to fear us. I write about how easy it is to get accepted as a trans woman, because I think a lot of transfems really have this fear of imposing. Because we have impostor syndrome for womanhood as social performance. It is something that newly transitioning women need to hear. Our struggle and hangups and fears are parallel and often the same as those of cis women'...

https://mas.to/@fatbot/116803122046003000 Not to mention fat and healthy. Yes, obesity is a health issue. But not in the way it's usually claimed. Your main concerns when overweight are statistically your cardiovascular health, your joints, and possibly diabetes. If you are active enough that your ticker is good at pumping blood and you otherwise don't have any issues, you're set. If your knees can handle everyday life, you're set. You don't gotta be a marathon runner to...

Here's a little fashion hack for y'all girls and fembies, as well as the more adventurous boys. You put on tights, as one does. You seem to do it right, but then when you move around a lot, or walk, or sit, or whatever, they're not uniformly distributed, especially very thin ones. Tights are not supposed to be loose anywhere. It's right there in the name. Here's what to do. Flex your legs as you put them on. As many parts of the leg as you can, and especially those front m...

This is your irregular reminder that the laws that introduced vastly more surveillance in the US and curtailed US people's freedoms were a reaction to 9/11, meant to be temporary anti-terrorism measures in a supposed time of crisis. These temporary measures have not only been in place for over twenty years, they've been made worse. I'm sure they'll remove those assaults on personal freedom any day now. Aaaaaaany day. If you're under, say, 30, you may no...

So, DeviantArt opted in, by default, all existing art on the website for use by third-party AI. Without notifying their users. For all existing art. You have to go through your art pieces one by one and tick a box that you do NOT consent to this. I learnt about it on Birdsite, by accident. And of course, any inactive user or dead user will have their art used by AI models from now on, even though they never agreed to this. Disgusting.

"pan" in Polish means variously "mister", "sir" or "lord". I think there's untapped potential for a Polish drag king to be called "Pan Sexual".

I will never not be amused and fascinated by the concept of "transmaxxing". In case you don't know, let me ruin your peace of mind - it's the notion that trans women are actually dudes who transition to be more popular with the ladies. By which I mean, looking for opportunities to fuck. Let's ignore the fact that the plan to transition as a man purely to fuck more, something that would take so much time, pain and effort, is a pretty bad plan seeing as...

Whether in art, in game dev, or anything really, I struggle (immensely) with doing something for the sake of tinkering and experimenting and figuring things out. Getting my hands dirty, figuratively speaking. I both had a ton of anxiety around doing stuff that was never going to be "finished", and also my perfectionism and my... inability to conceptualise preliminary work and prototyping got in the way. Like, I have decent skills at drawing and pixel art I think, but I can&a...

So it was Pi Day recently (by which I mean, a month ago), and I was inspired by how Matt Parker always calculates Pi using increasingly convoluted methods. So I calculated it the most straightforward way possible. Take a grid of n by n. Count how many of cells in that grid are positioned so that x^2 + y^2 < n^2 (n being the radius of the implicit circle). That's the approximate area of a quarter-circle with a radius of n. Then divide that by (n/4) and you've got, more o...

Today at #rollerderby I didn't exactly do contact stuff, but almost-kinda-sorta (I was the jammer for an exercise. Sort of). I can smell the time when I'm allowed to train during contact practice and I can't wait! We also did 27-in-5*. This was the third time I've done this. First time I managed 19 laps. Second time, 20 laps. Today I was like two-three seconds short of making it to 22. So I am improving with every attempt so far! I didn't pace myself wel...

It fascinates me that people who very much eat meat are often various levels of uncomfortable or weirded out by animal products not made of meat, like tripe or what goes into a sausage or whatever. My friend, you already eat chunks of a carcass. You already gave up on the notion of avoiding the ickiness. How is a leg inherently less upsetting to eat than a stomach. If you eat dairy, you eat basically spoilt milk. And milk itself comes from modified sweat glands. If you want to go vegetarian or...

I know I repeat myself, but pleasuring myself is so different on HRT. It's transcendent. Not easily and not always, but the ceiling of where I can go is so much higher than ever before. And as I've said many times before, just going at it without any pressure to orgasm is so much better than finishing pre-transition. I do need to invest in a vibrator. If my fingers can do this much, I wonder what a toy could do.

Here's my early #GEM #GEMonday . I am going to a thing. I went through some outfit ideas but nothing really worked. So finally I settled on the simple, tried and true formula. Black opaque tights (leggings, but whatever), light blue denim shorts, Nightwish T-shirt that shows a bit of neck and almost bare the shoulders, black canvas bag with a cat, eye makeup like I headbutted a coal miner, white Doc Martens because of course, silver necklace, and a bright purple plaid shirt around my w...

(thread, 1/2) Story time! My wife and I went to a hot pot at her friend's place. We arrived first, to our surprise. We said hi, the host apologised for not everything being ready yet. My wife asked if she could help, so she washed her hands, was given a knife and was stationed at a cutting board to chop vegetables. My wife had literally just returned to our home city on a train. And barely slept last night. It's not important to the story but it's relevant. I was fe...

To be conservative essentially means believing you're the exception. The rule doesn't encompass you. You're special. Which rule? Well, the specifics of that shape what kind of conservative you are. From a libertarian to a religious nut, from a Respectable Gay to a gun nut. From a racist to a transphobe. But you have to believe your own lie that you're better than others. More aware. More of a person. If you don't know what I mean, read "The onl...

I don't see this talked about like, ever. So I'll talk about it. If you realised you're trans but find yourself sometimes not really hating your assigned gender and being like "meh" to it? 1) That doesn't mean you've been cis all along; 2) It doesn't mean you just imagined your dysphoria; 3) You're not "pretending" anything or lying to anyone, least of all yourself. It just means you're more t...
