  i have a very specific memory of watching my dad play solitaire on the computer when i was very very young. this was back on 98 or xp, when windows solitaire kept track of the "money" you'd "bet" and "won" in the status at the bottom. i looked at it and thought "it's a good thing money doesn't really go negative". and my dad gave such a wistful "yeah......" that i immediately knew he was keeping something from me

  there is at least one character in pokemon who just straight up is therian. like that's just the correct word for it. they're a nameless npc who says that they want to be a pokemon and you can tell them "you can be!" and they answer that like "oh you're right i can just live as a pokemon no matter what ^^" what i actually meant was "go to kanto and talk to my buddy bill" but the way game freak wrote it seems to be that they're just a therian charac...

  my friends made up a classification for pokemon therians in that every pokemon is woods or gyms. i grew up going to public school and buying snacks at the convenience store, so i'm a gyms pokemon. vaporeon walks on all fours and calls me "glaceon" out of what i assume to be pure instinct, so they're a woods pokemon. mia grew up in the woods foraging for berries but now has a trainer id and stays in hotel rooms so it's not a binary or anything

  i wish the logic circuits game i learned tristate logic from was actually good because it was really cool, you started with your normal "this is a nand gate" type stuff but once you had microcontrollers you got to actually program the microcontrollers as part of the larger circuits. it was really fun and one of the few times a game like that actually taught me stuff (not because i'm soooo smart but because i started playing games like that after i already knew the basics about that...
