This has been on the horizon for a while, and one of the things that nativist conservatives are freaking out over. There are no clear solutions that would be acceptable to them, and none that are, are practical or likely to work. Population drop is not an insurmountable problem, nor necessarily an evil, but through lack of planning and foresight, it certainly can become one. We are currently sulking and doing everything humanly possible to make it a giant evil, and we show no signs of waking...

Hegseth may be in for some surprises with his testosterone testing jag. One thing, is he may find out that some of the women have higher testosterone than the average man, and some of the top performers may have relatively low testosterone. One thing he is sure to discover is that a ton of people with high testosterone are in detention or awaiting trial.

So, we are doing about as well with the New World Screwworm outbreak as was predicted by our response to COVID So far - Defunding surveillance - Firing the people who used to do the surveillance - Ignoring the hazard signals when they first appeared - Denying it when it was reported - Implementing half-arsed measures that are voluntary and in the future

I went through military conscription, and left it vowing never ever ever to do THAT again. I became very against the idea, and all kinds of arguments about how it wastes resources and delivers very little. As part of my service, I broke both knees, cracked my skull, and lost vision and hearing. I did learn a trade, so there's that. Now that war in Europe has erupted again, and nations that were very stable a decade ago are swaying wildly, I have rethought my position on conscription, b...

Umm... #healthcare professionals, #clinicians, #physicians You very much need to watch this short video. The system is failing patients, and women especially, and we need to stop this siloed money-driven model and shift to value-based care in a hurry. Also, if you are an #obgyn then for the love of all that is sane, HELP this lady! https://youtube.com/shorts/kAfvRAMpI-k #AmericanAcademyofFamilyPhysicians #PCOS

Just reminding everyone that hepatocellular carcinoma is cruel and highly lethal, and the BEST way to avoid this really nasty illness is to get immunized against the hepatitis virus as a child. The second best is as an adult. Yet, the HHS leadership is whistling and gazing into the clouds and giving new parents the impression that the vaccines are ineffective and risky, while totally ignoring WHY you need the vaccine. Let's be fucking frank here: driving to the shops is hundreds of ti...

I have the kind of problem that AI agents and computerization *should* be able to solve with ease, but is apparently unable to The electfic motor on my SunJoe wood chipper died By inspection the motor brushes are kaput The SunJoe support AI agent tells me it is beyond its capability to tell me what the part number for the brush set is, or the dimensions I mic the brushes at ~13mm W x ~8mm H. Original length, dunno, maybe ~20mm? The Harffington catalog is a mess, and you can't simply...
