If you still write software for Android, one of the top priority in your architecture design should be full avoidance of using Google Play Services. This way you will make it possible for your app to appear in non-Google Android systems like Murena. This will become very important soon. People should, and hopefully will, start to prioritise non-Google Android devices. The health of the app ecosystem on those devices will dictate the speed of transition. App devs have the power to help.

My UNA Watch should arrive this week. Can't wait! I'll try to figure out how to build some software in public. Maybe live streaming or somethign. European, sustainable, repairable, open ecosystem. I want this to survive!

I really don't miss looking at the code. Code was always the means to the end for me. I spent 35 years learning to write code so I could craft software users find valuable. I no longer need to look at the code. I can fully focus on the value to the user.

Nobody will ever mistakenly think that what I write is done with LLMs due to the amount of typos I manage to include in every post I make..

I want to ride my gravel bike across the Alps. The challenge would be to do this in 2 days. I think it's doable... #cycling

Spending a couple of days in Mandarfen it's striking how much nicer a town feels when there's no though car traffic. The valley ends at the town so people drove here and from here but not through. The complete lack of me-like-broom-broom people here is very apparent. Not motorcycle noice echoing through the valley constantly like it's in many places in the Alps. I don't want to ban cars. Just the idiots.

Garmin, Starva and a like use user contributed data which they sell as part of their paid scubscriptions. This really annoys me. I want to avoid doing the same with #VertMatch Firstly, I want to keep the Climb Database freely available to everyine. Forever (assuming I can find ways to cover server costs). Secondly, I'm setting up a reward system that automatically gathers poinst to users from every contribution. A certain level automatically converts into a free premium month.

I quite like the racing history card on #VertMatch It gives a nice overview of past suffering and enjoyment. Also, it put the Piztal course in context. On the TEP scale the 18km I lasted in that race is tougher than any of my previous races completed. Damn. Find your race history by creating a free account at: https://vertmatch.run/ #trailrunning

Most car trips could be done with a bicycle instead. Most people take car due to perceived convenience, not necessity. Most drivers don't even consider possible alternatives before jumping into a car.

The UNA Watch is now available on purchase. I've not yet gotten one but quite tempted. TL;DR, this is like the Fairphone of sport watches. Repairable. https://unawatch.com/products/una-watch

#VertMatch race comparison data has been super useful in this race preparation window. Looks like I'm up about 20% in training and climbing training vs. ZUT prep. #trailrunning

This is really cool! The first user-contributed workout repo for indoorbike.app is now live. You can find all commnity workout repos here (the app loads the list automatically): https://indoorbike.app/community/ And instructions how to create one yourself here: https://indoorbike.app/community/contribute.html Thank you @ghose@gts.xmgz.eu for the contribution and patience with incomplete instructions! (they should be fixed now)

Our small countryside town was having a kids sports Verain summer party. What amazed me, in a very good way, was that I think 90%+ of the families arrived by bikes and cargo bikes. 🚲💪

Over the last week-or-so, I've been working to import public trail data to #VertMatch The process is now complete for countries that have data easily available. Public trail data was combined to avialable high resolution elevation data and then ran through the climb analyser algorithm which identified and categorised climbs Climbs are here: https://vertmatch.run/find-a-climb Here are some stats and more details what areas the data now covers. I'm working to expand the country cover...
