It looks like people might more likely wave through a stupid idea (that outwardly looks attractive and shiny) than come up with one themselves. Also, uncritical “AI" admiration and things.

It is over 30 years ago I read it, no way I remember anything *in* the article any more. But the title sure is snappy, and fits *so* well here.

  My favourite bird is the hooded crow (corvus cornix) that is very common where I live. Some weeks ago one pair started nesting in a tree across the street. They are not pretty birds, but they are very intelligent and seem to have a kind of no-nonsense confidence that I like. They avoid danger, but they never appear to be afraid. It looks like I can still see something of their dinosaur nature.

When my wife (to be) moved into her previous flat, two strong people, one a carpenter, the other a Tae Kwon Do champion, carried a big and really heavy oaken chest of hers four flights up.   Found out why my GitLab instance is so slow: Facebook has been scraping my repositories for 3 weeks now, apparently at the top of what GitLab could deliver on that small VM with just 2 CPUs and 1 thread each. And more, but all others are small fry in comparison. Well, not any more. For now, no access any more except for a very few select addresses. I'll be thinking of something more measured shortly. It is not that different from the past with online manuals at your fingertips, though. But an LLM effect, by outsourcing cognitive tasks like writing to LLMs, where people cannot remember what they "wrote", and feel no o...
