  Watched the first episode of Widow's Bay this morning before work and now all my brain wants to think about is cozy New England island horror fantasy. 😩 Curious to see if Widow's Bay manages to cut closer to the flavor I'm looking for than Haven did. Haven got _so close_ sometimes, with some genuinely good episodes—the reanimating taxidermy animals come to mind—but over all it just never quite landed for me.

  Yesterday I noticed that one of the heads of a sunflower out on my front stoop was getting raided before the petals had even fallen off. Based on my keen knowledge of the sunflower's natural predators, I developed a theory and I staked out the front door with a camera.   The Pittsburgh Fourth of July celebrations are currently in suspended animation, with the fireworks theoretically set to start in 90 minutes. I get why the city doesn't want to shut it down, but there's now a 50% chance of thunderstorms from 9pm-11pm, so I think it might be time to call it. Heat shut down the Anthrocon furry parade and the Fourth of July parade in DC, too. Feels kinda like Someone's trying to send a message. 👀

  Circa 2005, I had this fun idea for a Star Wars RPG campaign set in an alternate timeline where Anakin was the Emperor, and he raised Luke and Leia as his Sith enforcers—his own personal Vaders in crimson. I haven't thought about this setting in at least ten years, but for absolutely no reason, this morning my brain started working on how exactly the backstory would work. How and when did Palpatine die? How did Anakin's confrontation with Obi-wan go? why is my brain doing this
