  Tethering to my phone sucks ass for some reason. I'm looking to buy a dongle I can stick a sim card in for a data connection but it seems like this is a product class that just doesn't exist. The closest things I can find are "mobile hotspots" which look like they're just smartphones without a screen that you tether to, which doesn't inspire confidence they'd actually be better than my current connection Anyone got a solution for this they like?   My conspiracy theory is that a contributing reason we've lost the war on spam is that platforms (e.g. Google, Apple) have an interest in taking on a role as a your personal bouncer because it makes it more difficult to leave their walled garden You basically can't self-host an email server these days. Having a phone line is useless if you don't have spam call protection from a major company. This is a bad situation we've found ourselves in
