We live with the knowledge that there are uncountably many small tragedies happening all around us. If it were the case that each of us felt every small tragedy as a bit of sadness, then we would immediately be overwhelmed by the magnitude of it all. Therefore there must be some threshold, some smallest unit, of sadness we're capable of experiencing, below which we are unaffected. In this essay I will describe a "quantum feels theory"...
