  Who thinks a stochastic database would be a good idea? You know, where you query something and some of the time it picks some incorrect but plausible sounding result instead of fetching the correct record. And imagine if people started thinking that meant it was sentient, or might even be a way of creating an AGI. :rofl: I know, I know.

  #HomeLab help! I have #Proxmox VE and used a helper to make a Docker VM. Now I want to give that VM a fixed IP and I see that the way to do this is to log into the VM and set the fixed IP for the OS in the VM, but... The VM is running Debian 13 Trixie, which I believe uses #Netplan. So I modify the config, and do 'netplan try', and it reports that it can't allocate the IP which I think is because it's a VM. So I don't accept the new config. I tried some unused IPs. Any t...

  Didn't see this coming... I'm going to ask about #gardening, specifically how to move a mature rosebush (without killing it obvs). I guess it's about 5ft tall by 2ft to 3ft with lots of beautiful scented roses. I want to make sure it survives some building work next year which will be reaching up to about 2ft - 3ft away.   I'm looking into complete #heating system inc #SolarPV + diverter or PVT while renovating an old property which currently lacks heating. All walls will have improved isolation but I'm not sure whether a #HeatPump is a good idea as we like it warm ~23C, so oil is the alternative. The house is mostly North facing (in SW UK), has a very old core (40cm stone walls) a less old section and two 1970's era extensions. A mixed bag!   Any recommendation for #SelfHosting a web app, useable on mobile as well as desktop for two people to collaborate making notes with basic WYSIWYG text formatting? The purpose is to help us maintain notes for #renovation and #refurbishment of our home. We're mostly apart so I think it would help being able to edit a list of documents.
