Today I found out this marathon I’m signed up for this month as part of a longer race series has an official distance of 26.35 miles. That’s 0.15 miles longer than a marathon. Any race longer than a marathon is technically an ultra. So does that mean I’ll finish my first ultra? ;) #running

Speaking of putting money into Elon Musk's pocket, we all will probably be putting more money into Musk's pockets through our retirement accounts, index funds, mutual funds, et cetera once SpaceX goes public and they bend the rules to fast track trading of the stock in the various exchanges. Techbros seem to always win and never have to suffer consequences for their nefariousness, do they? #ElonMusk #SpaceX #rant morningstar.com/funds/spacex-i…

The past couple weeks of reading some articles about the "death of Bluesky" and irrelevance of Mastodon has illustrated that a big metric used for that assessment is lack of referral clicks to articles. Even when someone gets a lot of engagement on posts linking the article no one goes to read them. I think that is a problem going back to before the internet as a "I just read the headline" problem. Still, I do want to boost the signal of the alternative social networks. So n...

Today's Google Announcement that they are essentially killing search and making it just AI summaries so you don't need to go to the original sites may be a blessing in disguise. Present day content creators that really produce content will be strangled off. The new paradigm will be feeding the LLM bots. What will they be fed? They'll be fed more LLM generated content. It'll be a human centipede of content. Those of us who want that, which sadly is probably like >80% of the pop...

I admit to being uncultured so the term "Virginia Woolf" just makes me think of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf", which I've never seen. Yesterday I learned she wrote a book in 1928 called "Orlando" about a guy who lives without aging for centuries but changes from a man into a woman at some point. In 1928. I have got to read this thing! Talk about being ahead of your time in exploring a topic. #writing #fiction #history #lgbt en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlando:…

It's finally happened! For the first time in history a person has officially run a marathon in under two hours. Sebastian Sawe actually ran the London Marathon 30 seconds faster than 2 hours at 1:59:30. The second place finisher *also* beat two hours, but 11 seconds slower. The third place finisher beat the previous marathon world record as well coming in 28 seconds slower than the 2 hour mark. What an incredible race! #running #LondonMarathon apnews.com/article/marathon-re…

Relatica 1.2.1, a Friendica mobile and desktop client, has been released. I set up a from scratch Linux Flutter Dev VM for myself and installed the latest IntelliJ. I was pretty appalled by how sluggish things felt, even with the largest AI plugins off. I then turned off all the other plugins I don't use (probably a couple dozen) since I'm doing Flutter Desktop development. Thankfully things are much snappier. I'm sure part of it is Wayland under VirtualBox which is better than it has been but still quirky compared to X. Anyway, if you find your IntelliJ g...

The idea that GrapheneOS will have first class vendor support finally has me so excited. I hope there is good follow through and execution on this! Last week I posted about how I fake out Portuguese Immersion for speaking. This post is about how I do it for reading, writing, and listening. I'm always on the hunt for additional European Portuguese content besides the stuff listed in here. I'd love a good tech YouTuber or podcast. Some more modern music selections would be good too. #language #Portuguese nequalsonelifestyle.com/2026/0…
