  Thoughts on mountains on #mountainmonday. I wanted to hike the Monte Pelmo, today, after being forced to give up, last week. I had to cancel again. The extreme heat is melting the permafrost and the mountain is literally crumbling. It's not safe, now. Another consequence of climate change that breaks my heart.   Hiking packing list app: advice needed! I am currently using Lighterpack, but I would like to switch to a more mobile friendly website or app. The website is not mobile friendly and it takes a lot of time to update my backpack list (plus it's so difficult to navigate from mobile) What do you hikers use? Trails are the threads the connect our towns, valleys, the lives of the people that live and have lived our mountains.   I lately find myself less eager to share my life online. I do it when I feel like it. I share my hikes but I don't feel like I "have" to. It's just natural and I don't feel bad if I don't share everything. The Fediverse has changed me for the better. I detoxified from mainstream social media, and I have never felt better.   They always say that pet loss hits differently. When Zoe suddenly fell ill, we did everything we could, but we lost her on this day, 2 years ago, for complications caused by an undetected infection. My heart stopped, life became heavy. She was my soul dog. She was kind, loving, always happy. 2 years passed, but I still miss her. Every day.   Vaia, for us, was a tragedy. It hit hard in 2018, devastating our region, destroying our forests and causing fatalities. When you hike in the #Dolomites you still see the scars: fallen trees, devastated valleys, and the European spruce bark beetle that came after the storm and that's eating our trees.   I have been feeling awful for weeks. Anxiety at peak levels. Sudden bursts of tears. Inability to do my job, take care of our dogs, or enjoy hiking.
