Even after this many years, my hubby can still make me crack up laughing over the Krogan flailing animations from Mass Effect Andromeda. Who knew someone could make a worse fight scene than early Trek Worf.

To GW2 or not to GW2, that is the question.

Me: It is reasonably cool and the air quality isn't bad, I think I'll open windows to cool things off. Obnoxious neighbor: Hold my beer... starts blowtorching weeds in his yard.

I was worried when Belghast hadn't done his usual regular posts for a week. Then he did post something and I thought, okay, just dealing with all the stuff he has going on. But.... You don't have to actually meet a person for them to have an impact on your life and be mourned. Be at peace Mark, and anyone who may take care of his accounts, know that he made an impact on many lives through his games, blogging, Blaugust, NBI and here. We are missing him.

I haven't finished the next little bit in the WoW main story, but as soon as it looked like it was going to be another "trolls making bad decisions" theme, I lost interest and am sitting in Zul Aman not wanting to "help" them along the path of doom. The number of DnD campaigns where we "helped" the world by unleashing (and then defeating) great evil must be why I'm not fond of the trope.

I finished the latest MSQs for WoW and yeah, I definitely knew where that was heading from the start. Yawn.

I was writing about my failed games earlier, the ones I own but have no desire to play. ASKA was one I picked up with gift money and played for about 2 hours. But now it has mods, so maybe I'll try again.

The last couple of episodes of Resident Alien sure hit the "all the feels" buttons. Tears and laughter, silly and poignant. A reminder that we are all connected.

At least for the first part of Blaugust, I'm not going to be as interactive as I wanted to be this year. I'm pre-scheduling as much as I can, but I'm out of a town a lot over the first part of the fest for family stuff. If you aren't already following the main account, you can keep up with all of the posts that people have shared there. https://gamepad.club/@Blaugust

I finally installed and started to play Expedition 33 and I hope it isn't a combat heavy game because the combat style is not my thing. I've only done the intro with one character's fighting style, so maybe there will be one that feels better to me. Quicktime stuff though, ugh.

I have been attempting to play a Disc Priest in WoW to try it out for healing. Tanks really don't seem to stop and take a breather at all. They go from pulling a group, straight into a boss fight with half health. I guess healers enable that behavior by not letting them die, but it is kind of annoying.

Emotions are strange. My hubby is flying to visit his parents while I stay home with our dog and I was taking it in stride until he casually mentioned this will be the longest we've been apart in over a decade and now I'm kind of a mess.

I like to read my own books rather than get audiobooks, but I will absolutely make an exception for this one. A BG3 prequel novel about Astarion narrated by himself, Neil Newbon, and written by T. Kingfisher. Yeah, that's worth a listen. https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/813073/baldurs-gate-3-astarion-by-t-kingfisher/

My family was stationed overseas when I was born. It is supposed to be considered "on US soil" but I wouldn't put anything past the AI garbage data being used to unfairly target people, to be used to unfairly target children born to military service members. I am immensely pissed off that I even have to consider being marginally at risk of having my entire existence uprooted and ruined for the agenda of these racist ghouls.

No biggie, just me and over 3 million people live stream watching a manned comet (Artemis II) splashing down safely in the ocean. Pretty amazing!

A couple of our DnD group have started to complain about how hard the rules are for them to keep track of now. Aging out of games really sucks. Are there any good board games you've played that could accomodate 7 people? It is the number that is the big issue. I've seen Gloomhaven or HeroQuest, but those are 4 or 5 max. Hubby and I are stuck coaching them all the time now which is not fun. But we still want a reason to gather regularly and play. Any suggestions from #DnD and #TTR...

The relgious fanatic who unironically doesn't see the parallel between his sick threats and the religous fanatics he wants to murder is bad enough. Having the head of my country threaten to use nukes, how else do you wipe out a country like he's threatening, is freaking me out. Watching our government reps fence sit while legit crazy people commit war crimes. This must be how it feels to live in other countries under fanatical leaders. Land of the free my ass.

I can't believe I live in a world where I legit felt the need to write a letter to the president of my country asking him to please not nuke another country. This is not a joke.

I got a pattern drop for my Tailor in WoW for making some housing deco, curtains. The mats to make these are utterly and completely ridiculous. Two types of specialized bolts that are made from specialized cloth that is gated behind profession knowledge. You need 8 of each type. I'm sorry, no! Someone needs to really look at housing deco crafting and revamp it. There are some recipes that require a crafting mat that is 20K just for the one mat. And the wood chopping is still mostly one p...

Here is an example of how messed up the crafting patterns for housing decorations are. Take for example the Silvermoon Curtains pattern that uses 8 Arcanoweave Bolts and 8 Sunfire Silk Bolts both of which have daily cooldowns and take 5 blue quality cloth per to make, plus 24 lumber that are still mostly one per chop. Who has time for that nonsense and I'm certainly not going to spend 24k gold or more in mats just to craft a curtain.

I've been reading the book Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky and as a parable about outcomes of the perilous precipice on which we stand regarding autonomous robotics, it does a bang up job. Watching a perfect storm gather steam in real time and then reading a plausible cautionary tale is interesting, slightly disturbing, certainly thought provoking. We have a military amok, government dysfunction, crazed technocrats, ego, greed, all thrown into a mix of someone playing chicken with ou...

I am definitely not surprised, but also very NOT okay with the attitudes about "some deaths" coming from the warmongers. You are not collateral dmg, I am not collateral dmg and no death should be just shrugged off as inevitable. People like that won't draw a line of acceptible losses, they don't see us as people and they will spend military lives recklessly. To them, another 9/11 would just be further justification to monger their wars, not something to avoid at...

I used to try to ease into the time change but now I just go cold turkey and treat the time as what is on the clock rather than interpret what the time used to be. The light levels are the hardest to adjust to for a while. Our dog has the hardest time with the adjustment on the fall back side of things when dinner is always late. Early dinner on the spring side is just fine by her.

There is an entire beautiful section of Silvermoon that is set aside for the Horde with all the amenities, and there were no players in it when I explored. After the hue and cry over sharing the city, you'd think some die hard Horde would spend time there instead of the shared spaces where you can't even see crafting trainers because of all the big bois standing around. I'm moving all my Horde folks into that quarter.

I am a level of belligerant these days that is a direct testiment to overall stress levels. I call it the stress bucket being full. I empty the stress bucket, but lately it fills up really quickly. Like every day the stress bucket is filled up. I'm going to take a week off of opening my browser, looking at anything news related and see if I can stop being Fthis at everything and everyone. Wish me luck!

I'll admit, I hate damage meters. Having one baked into WoW's is one of the most toxic things they could have done to the game. We need to be able to complete content, but pushing the meta of topping meters, S tier classes etc is awful. Levelled a mage to do raids next week and it is crushing my soul. I'm not part of my guild's chain running dungeon group, so my gearing is all solo or pugs. I no longer want to play mage because I enabled the dmg meter. But gearing...

One of my other big frustrations with wow classes and the whole meta is the constant tweaking they do. Play a mage they said, they are OP they said. They get nerfed. Unholy Death Knight is super fun and high dmg output, next week it will be tweaked. Any class that seems to be topping the meters gets the nerf bat.

Every really long fight in a computer game should have a progress bar or countdown. Someone needs to remind the SWTOR folks of that need.
