  Some musings on AI: I'm not a professional SE. I code in the service of solving specific scientific problems or other problems I personally have. But when I fix a bug, or overcome a limitation, all on my own....that feeling is unmatched. Why would I ever use a tool that takes away that sense of accomplishment? I don't want AI to solve my problems. I want to overcome challenges on my own, to build competence on my own, to discover on my own. AI just cheapens things.

  This paper frustrates me. Nothing against the researchers, but if you can find no consistent patterns, the conclusion shouldn't be "the effects are heterogeneous". The conclusion should be "we couldn't find any pattern / effect". Negative results are still significant!
