  I had an interesting conversation with my wife yesterday, and I'd be curious about your thoughts. We talked about culture. My working hypothesis is that culture is an active and collective process. I remember that her opposition to my idea was "but nobody cares about Schiller anymore!", to which my answer was: Even the preservation of what is commonly called heritage is an ongoing process (and, of course, in no way neutral).

  I listened to Theatre of Tragedy today while I cleaned out/reorganized my wardrobe, and then I wanted more of that kind of sound, and I ended up learning about Witchgaze. I guess I have a new genre that I like.

  I'm looking at things on IKEA for reasons and took a detour to the office chair section of the website … and I'm reminded of how narrow the standards for "normal" bodies are. Case in point: None of the "ergonomic" chairs can be adjusted to a seat height that allows me to sit in a posture that is commonly recommended (feet flat on the floor).   One of the best analyses of the sad state of the Internet that I recently read is Cory Doctorow's "How to destroy surveillance capitalism": https://craphound.com/category/destroy/ It might be a timely read, too! It has some good explanations on why so many of us are still participating in destructive platforms like Facebook and Twitter, why they are such hellholes and what that has to do with monopolies.

  Finally got around to listening to "Strategies against Algorithms" by @stephan and I love it! A personal, sincere album, at times bleak, wrestling with climate change, AI, and other serious topics of our time. I especially enjoyed the interesting, warm synthesizer sounds.
