I'm looking at things on IKEA for reasons and took a detour to the office chair section of the website … and I'm reminded of how narrow the standards for "normal" bodies are.
Case in point: None of the "ergonomic" chairs can be adjusted to a seat height that allows me to sit in a posture that is commonly recommended (feet flat on the floor).
I have known a lot of people who are markedly shorter than I am. Yet I continue to run into all kinds of problems because I'm on the short side.

It's small things but they make life hard. Pants are always too long; I have to shorten them before I can wear them. That's an easy one (but annoying). I can't reach stuff on high supermarket shelves. I can't put my luggage into the rack above the seats when I travel by train without help. At home, I constantly use a step ladder. Chairs and tables give me back pain. The kitchen counter is too high. Train and plane seats are uncomfortable, and so are car seats.
