RE: https://greennuclear.online/@collectifission/117049396957492268 @snarfed.org I have a question on how to properly count characters for the bridge. As is known, Bluesky has a 300 character limit, so I try to keep below that. In fact, I try to keep below 250 so my posts have a margin to get displayed properly. This brings me to an example where I'm puzzled. Below post is counted as 249 characters on Mastodon and 268 on Bluesky. I guess they're different because both pieces of softwa...

Ok, Burnham has this going for him. Now decide on several more nuclear projects to go through! The UK could easily use five more projects like Hinkley Point C.

Excellent video, as always, by @notjustbikes@social.notjustbikes.com, this time on the progress being made in Amsterdam on making the city 'autoluw'. This example needs to be taken seriously by the rest of the world's big cities. It creates much better, liveable, cities for everyone. https://nebula.tv/videos/notjustbikes-the-amazing-plan-for-a-nearly-carfree-amsterdam/

It's currently 28º inside and I am much more used to it than a few weeks ago. Acclimatisation is probably part of it, but I notice that after I go swimming it takes a considerable amount of time before I go sweating. Dunno if this is widely known life hack, but yeah, swimming helps a lot in cooling down the body long after you leave the pool. It's also a great workout. I swim 50 laps a day and burn ~1400 kcal with it.

A while ago, I made a post where I made a rough calculation how much paid subscriber Mozilla would need to have, to be fully community funded. Let's review that question with a poll. Mozilla spent $417 million in salaries and benefits in 2024 [1]. This number was $328 million the year before. Let's put this figure at $400 million. Let's add another $100 million in other expenses. As per June 22nd Firefox had slightly over 200 million clients in use [2]. Both these numbers give us s...

I didn’t build Chromium for a few years now and I remember why. I’ve been compiling the latest build for 12 hours now and it still isn’t done. I mean, sure, it’s on a #Gentoo box with a fourth generation Intel Core i7 from 2013, but still! Even LibreOffice builds in under two hours on it.

RE: https://greennuclear.online/@collectifission/116657517023504504 So, I got three people voting for the classic definition. Four went for the stalinist/trotskyist version, leaving more than half to go with some version of capitalism. It’s a small sample, but in my experience indicative of the immense confusion on the left.
