@snarfed.org I have a question on how to properly count characters for the bridge. As is known, Bluesky has a 300 character limit, so I try to keep below that. In fact, I try to keep below 250 so my posts have a margin to get displayed properly.
This brings me to an example where I'm puzzled.
Below post is counted as 249 characters on Mastodon and 268 on Bluesky. I guess they're different because both pieces of software count urls differently. In a flat text file, it's 332 characters.
What I imagine is happening is that the bridge just pumps over the 332 characters as a flat file, so it's too much for Bluesky and therefore gets truncated. Is that correct? Can this be fixed somehow? The workaround of counting the characters in a text editor is a bit cumbersome tbh.
