half the furries I follow have profiles that are like "[therian] hello woof woof I like snuggles. Gardener. Gay Slut. PhD in computer science." and their latest post is "sometimes I wish I could take a shower with sulfuric acid to make sure I'm Actually Clean:tm:"

I know the song idea I'm working on is good when my roommate asks "what song are you listening to"

this was a rejected idea for the gamejam but I've just realized it sounds exactly like the kind of song i'd write 15 years ago

This post and everyone disagreeing with it are all wrong. We should expect our software to have 100% uptime, even volunteer projects. This should not be achieved by demanding volunteers work unreasonable hours every day, but by building a software ecosystem that makes building a service that has 100% uptime *trivially easy*. It should be possible to spin up a website and have it survive millions of hits per day using at most a few servers in a closet with load balancing that can survive one of...

I need to start a microblog where I keep a daily log of the insane things that AI has suggested to me at work. The latest one is, after debug logging functions started causing linkage errors for some reason, it suggested to just REMOVE ALL THE DEBUG LOGGING instead of fix the linkage errors.

sometimes I wake up and remember that I somehow exist in a timeline where the deltarune weird route is a real thing that is in a real video game and not some kind of fever dream I had long ago.

Modern society has lost all legitimacy to me. As a child, I agreed to participate in farcical rituals like spending 4 years getting a piece of paper that lets me get a job, because I believed that society existed for a reason. I was willing to at least try to go to bars and socialize like a "normal person" and try dating and driving and shopping and what have you. Now I don't even pretend to be interested in any of that. After the Epstein files exposed that this charad...

I am so fucking tired of the knee-jerk reaction to "I don't like [X]" being "How can you not like [X]? You must be doing it wrong!!!" I'm 36 years old now. It's still happening. I'm so fucking tired. I'm not doing it wrong. For the love of god just let me dislike things.

If you come to me claiming that someone needs to be banned from a server because they're "being problematic" and "lying about being raped", I expect actual proof. If you instead justify this with the dumbest, most idiotic reason I've ever seen in my life, I will absolutely lose my fucking shit at you. This response is so wrong and gross and disgusting on so many levels I struggle to find the words to describe it. This is how abuse WORKS. Thi...

So, Costco wouldn't let me sign in, claiming my password was wrong. When I requested a code to be sent to my e-mail, they claimed no such account existed, but when I tried to create a new account they said I couldn't because an account with that e-mail already existed! So I try to login with my old account credentials again, double checking the password, and suddenly realize part of the password is missing even after I paste it! ...At some point Costco decided to limit the pass...

I think proper mental health must involve, on some level, respecting the fact that you are a very thin conscious layer over a mammalian brain structure shared with wild animals, and while your higher thought processes may override those needs in the short-term, over the long-term, you're still an animal with basic needs like food security, shelter, territory you control, exercise, socializing, being horny, etc. and trying to ignore them instead of just taking a walk sometimes will be se...

I hate biology SO MUCH. I had sharp pains in my foot and was worried I pulled a tendon, but it wasn't going away and didn't seem correlated to what I was doing with my foot. It was actually just a knot in a muscle in my upper THIGH that needed a stretch, radiating pain down to my FOOT. FUCK OFF, JUST TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

Two days ago I finally saw Project Hail Mary - I knew I was going to like it, but the movie reminded me, on a visceral level, how much I really do love science and technology and how problem-solving brings people together. It also reminded me how much I despise the kneejerk leftist response of renouncing any technology fascists have weaponized. It's always easier to destroy things with technology, but some leftists seem unwilling to put in the intellectual effort required to safely harn...

Ended up excitedly discussing how techniques for mitigating cache thrashing in Fenwick trees caused by power of two accesses are also used in many GPU algorithms with bunsenbitti while in line for an 18+ engineering panel. Furry cons are *wild*
