  still convinced film is the bottom tier of entertainment. there's no agency from the audience, no imagination, no room for the fantastic. it's a terrible medium. (animation is different)

  you know what day it is... it's #mechamusumemonday. been thinking about robotics and engineering lately, and one project I would definitely like to play with in the future is exosuit gear.   i wonder where the "we need to grow the audience and bring in new people" idea came from with media fans, I get hearing it from a business perspective but not really from the average joe. Same idea as caring about box office numbers, I suppose.

We spent the day in a colonial town, and before the fireworks show there was a speech about how we're in a divisive and fractured time now.   I find it curious how we label eras of entertainment, though in fairness I think only the new mediums really suffer in that regard. "classic" movies and "retro" games are hardly real terms as opposed to victorian literature and neoclassical architecture. that said it does feel strange to consider that, in the grand history of literature, The Lord of The Rings is part of "postmodern literature". heck, Conan the Barbarian and HP Lovecraft are in the modern era.
