Berk Berkman

berkberkman@shitposter.world

A simple man who loves to draw, goes to church, and has a loving family (which explains why I'm not terminally online yet). Former cartoon fan gone fishing elsewhere. I am still fond of animation (and other media), despite the suffering (just lurk /co/ if you must). May Jesus Christ save me from the daemons in this world and in my computers.

I guess now's a bad time to play Blue Archive. Then again, I only care about two of the characters and nobody else.

There will be a re-release of Your Name (Kimi no na wa.) but also remastered in 4K in theaters to celebrate its 10th anniversary via GKIDS. If it's not too packed in theaters nearby, I'll likely see it myself since it'll be available at AMC.

This limited edition Sony Walkman (NW-A100TPS) is still on an old version of Android (9.0 Pie). There's no special software mods nor hacks available as of 2026.

After using the HiBy M300 for a while, I plan to sell it and buy a used Sony Walkman DAP. Why? It's those side buttons. They're not the traditional media player buttons (rewind, play/pause, fast-forward) and they're not intuitive for me on the M300. I mistakenly thought they were volume keys thanks to how they feel without looking at them. It's a shame because it would've been a great value digital audio player.

I'm not surprised about this release of the Steam Controller. I had trouble with ordering one within the first few minutes.

I watched The World's End again. It still holds up astonishingly well, especially with the current state of England over a decade later. It didn't had a great reception compared to the other Cornetto trilogy movies that Edgar Wright did, but this movie is still worthwhile for writing a lovely story about a bunch of friends coming together for closure's sake and then some (even with their flaws and regrets). The sci-fi parts are humorous, but they become even funnier with...

I discovered an ancient VHS recording that's very fitting for today: Time Warner presents The Earth Day Special. Starring Rhea Perlman, Danny DeVito, Kermit the Frog, Rodney Dangerfield, Robin Williams, Bette Midler, The Golden Girls, Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Dustin Hoffmann, E.T., Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman, Barbra Streisand, and much, much more! Here it is on YouTube: https://youtu.be/By0Mx-SrqFo Here is an archived copy: https://archive.org/details/the-earth-day-special-1990

This might actually be more fitting for Earth Day: Boards of Canada's new album has been announced: Inferno. Coming May 29, 2026 from Warp Records. https://warp.net/releases/590960-inferno/tracklist

My first DIY server computer cost overall was roughly $1300 with several used parts (I built most of it over a year ago but I abandoned it until today). It doesn't have ECC at all, even though the RAM is DDR5, but I got it for cheap before the shortages. I probably should've went with the Jonsbo N4 as that has better motherboard support, more drive space, and a nicer design, but I really wanted a small case from the start. Here are the specs: >Intel Core i5-13500T 1.6 GHz...

I never knew there was a Fire Emblem OVA. Released over 30 years ago! It's thankfully archived, so check it out here before Nintendo does: https://archive.org/details/fire-emblem-ova

I made an attempt to draw a goblin woman portrait on the latest Android build of Krita (as of April 14, 2026). The build itself isn't stable nor designed with Android tablets in mind, but I tried to see how well it works. It wasn't fun for me. I'll be using a different Android app going forward, but I appreciate that it's not entirely broken. Also, it's at least completely free to use. As for the drawing itself, I'll leave it as is since it looks...

If anyone has some recommended Android drawing/painting apps, free, proprietary, or otherwise, let me know. I'm looking for one that just makes me focus on the drawing flow over having to fiddle with clunky interfaces.

Richard Stallman will be giving a talk about Free Software in The University of Texas at Austin soon. I haven't seen him visit Texas in a while, but I'll be curious what he's got to say about the place. It won't be surprising if he has a brief fit about today's Texans. https://apps.cs.utexas.edu/calendar/rooms/327918

Boards of Canada might return to make a new album, at least according to this new campaign found on the BoC Wiki. https://bocpages.org/wiki/2026_Promo_Campaign I should revisit their music because a lot of it still resonates with me.

Another album from Boards of Canada is coming. There's been some posters with their iconic hexagons spotted lately this month.

It's been about five years since I've been using Pleroma, or really anything involving the fediverse. I started on March 24, 2021 via the late neckbeard(dot)xyz (that later became baest and then that's mostly dead, sadly) because I was interested in social media besides imageboards that took it easy and post almost whatever's interesting without as much annoying jannies. A whole lot has happened in the past five years, but I'll gladly say that it'...
