the CIA is running some kind of internal political operation in California, but its agents are incredibly incompetent and one of them used their actual literal CIA HQ address that could be a fake out to take eyes off some other ops tho. if they were smart that's what they'd do. give you something to think you'd uncovered the plan and don't keep digging https://x.com/sf_mills/status/2082240822591013261

basically every time i see someone saying WOW AI IS SO IMPRESSIVE NOW, its basically guaranteed to be impressive at things with no material consequence. it's all empty nonsense, they're impressed the AI is jumping over hurdles that they created for the purpose of AIs jumping them

has anyone talked about how industrialization and mechanization alienates workers from the people who build the tools they work and how this means that the tools get fine tuned for capital instead of workers? did marx write about this?

apprenticeship models of employment are really nice, and we need more things that can be shaped into that model it's kind of optimal in some ways? like, minimal skill threshold required, minimal requirements to get an apprenticeship, get trained on the job and paid to do it

personally i'm ok with AI techniques being less well known but there's a deeper thing going on here which is far more important IMO, because it's also partially why LLMs have taken over == this thread is in response to this tweet: == https://x.com/krismicinski/status/2072303376629444764

i think we need to recognize the literacy crisis as extending well beyond just literal reading-and-writing literacy and consider broader literacy in modern technology. i know so many young adults who are completely unaware of how to use computers in even basic ways

there is a widespread belief among people with even a little technical and scientific savvy that Alchemy was a bunch of hooey, that they never published their experiments, that alchemists had to each discover on their own not to drink mercury, etc but this is urban legend!
