i figured out what happened. on the website, i selected size 11 in the first menu, selected the shoes i wanted. add to cart it turns out that if you dont select a size a second time, after choosing the shoes, and right before adding to cart, it defaults to the smallest shoe they have (which is size 6). that feels like really bad website design.
