90% of transphobia is silent - the kind that never makes headlines, never gets called out, never gets addressed it's when the internet technician that gave you offputting vibes silently puts mud in the ISP's box instead of cleaning it out it's when your medications get rejected by your insurance because someone at the medical office discovered your childhood account, and used the name from that account instead of your current name it's when you make corrections to information again and again, yet it keeps getting reverted a few days later it's when professionals feign ignorance and stupidity while making harmful "mistakes" it's when you get laid off because a "more trustworthy" cishet guy said he wants your job it's when you have ideas, but nobody sees value in them until a "normal" person repeats those same ideas and takes the credit it's when you have to consider how many spoons you have available on a given day because you might need to argue with someone for using the "wrong restroom" it's when you have to do more to prove yourself than others who are deemed "normal", because you can do a thousand things right and still be called wrong, and they can do a thousand things wrong and still be called perfect - not because you're less capable, but because the game has different rules for you it's when you always have to look over your shoulder because the phrase "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" doesn't apply anymore it's when you pay attention to the news, not because you want to stay informed, but because you need to stay informed it's when so many "trans allies" would more rather see a personal failing than a systemic failing - because the systemic part is invisible to them, happening in ways they cant recognize transphobia is when, after the catastrophic breakdown of all these systems that were supposed to work for everyone, and you look around and feel defeated by the crushing weight of it all... when the depression sets in... when the hopelessness sets in... when you're burnt out and out of strength... the world finally says "see? we told you she cant pull her own weight!" we cant thrive, when we can barely survive
