  Not a day goes by without hearing a novel way how AI is not making good things either worse or go away. Today it's good YouTube creators being fucked by broken AI "detection". Even if I would take the AI boosters arguments in good faith (which I don't), I would still question their sanity as they think that it's worth all the damage it's doing everywhere. Even if it actually worked well, I wouldn't think it's worth the price.

  Fedi, do you think YAML would be improved if it forced you to quote string values, instead of allowing strings to be unquoted values. In favour of quoted strings: It would make it explicit when something is a string, and you wouldn't accidentally input another type, expecting to be a string.   I enjoy using e-bikes, but the more I do, the more I find that I miss the oomph I can get on a regular bike. Like, it's not very satisfactory when a good beat drops, you start peddling faster and with more strength, and the e-bike does not go faster than its limiter, nor do you get more resistance on your legs...

  Some common factors of talented engineers that I see getting slop-pilled are: Tend to be older or have gone into a leadership position.Most likely don't do much actual coding themselves anymore.Used to delegation of stuff they don't want to do.Would rather do anything else than actual engineering.   It's funny how, when discussing codeberg's vibe ban,  people kept on complaining about that it was not possible to detect slop code, but now that the ban is in place, sloperators are "conscientiously boycotting" codeberg, instantly proving that the slop detection was never really needed, and that such a ban is very useful.   To add yet another thing that has been bothering me of the AI hype is that I'm normally not tech conservative at all. I've never had a problem with big changes if they were done in good faith and had an eye on improvement. Like, I didn't have really big issues with systemd, or wayland for that matter, even welcoming them as I saw what they were improving.
