So, watched this, and on average liked it, here's some random thoughts about it: The writers REALLY seem to hate Vulcans, and it's really bothering me. Like, they seem set on making almost every "full" Vulcan just be an arsehole by nature.I forgot about fuckboy Spock as an important plotline, and I really hoped they did as well. Please just stop this.Drawing attention to La'an's augment heritage makes me worried for what they are going to do with that character.Where were the voyager space faring dinosaurs?I liked the linguistic flourish of "we have multiple words for alone" but that the UT can translate that properly from English makes me think the UT is partly telepathic.Ancient Earth looked great and was fun.I liked the Martians, on average.I liked that Pike made the call of letting the extra planet be destroyed, was a twist I didn't see coming. On average, a fun, campy Trek ep, if it stays at this level it might flush out the bad taste of last season, but some of the teased elements in there worry me for the rest of the season.
