We went to parkrun today that we hadn't been to before, and it was cold, foggy, and the course was through grass that was just long enough to soak my shoes through with freezing cold winter dew. But, it was also the 3rd last run before the event closes permanently, which we didn't know until we got there. So I'm glad we went, even if it was too cold. But the other upside of the cold weather, is that I ran my best parkrun in 7 years (since 2019)! And next weekend is my first hal...

Today's the day! The half marathon I've been training for for the last 6 months. My main goal is to complete my first half marathon in a decade, at the same event I did my first ever half. My stretch goal is to get under 2 hours. I don't think I'll pull that one off, but I'll certainly be giving it a go! #running #fitness

Well, I finished it, but the course was brutal, so I didn't get close to my time goal. Lots of hills that I didn't train for, and 30km wind gusts! But, it was still my first half in a decade, so I'll take it :) #fitness #running RE: https://blahaj.zone/notes/aouc9lyn77jh0bdj

Amazing, blåhaj now has a manual! But it's not a manual for assembling your friendly plush shonk, but instead, a trans 101 manual for cis folk, telling them how they can be supportive of the trans people in their life! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwgvshnbgM8 https://www.ikea.com/es/es/files/pdf/5d/66/5d66f8d0/ikea_orgullo_manualempatii-a_versioi-ndigital250626.pdf #pride #trans #blahaj #transgender #ikea

Vernissage! It's a fediverse photo hosting/sharing platform, that's been around for a couple of years now, but hasn't had much traction or visibility. I just (re)discovered it recently, and after getting in and playing around with it more this time, I kinda fell in love with it. It's what I was hoping pixelfed would be, but never quite was. Rather than an instagram like experience, this feels more like something filling the fediverse niche that flickr fills in the centralised...

Help me out fedi folk. I remember reading about a relay service that let individuals follow a hashtag by having users follow an actor account on the relay, rather than having the admin add it as a relay. However, now I can't remember what the service was! Can someone help me out? #fedihelp #fediadmin

@johanna@lgbtqia.space I'd be curious to read it myself. I'm also curious about the folk that fall through the cracks. The straight trans women that didn't experience gay culture before they transitioned. Even though I'm not straight, my sexuality is complicated, and for a long time, I thought I was, and I know that I felt so very different to the other straight trans women, because they had all had experiences with queer culture and community long before they transitioned, and...

I ran 15.5km this morning! The longest I've ran in about 10 years now, and still plenty of fuel left in the tank when I finished. 3 months until my half. Feeling good! #workout #training #running #TrainAsOne

I hear we're doing visibility? This was me yesterday, for TDOV (It’s already April 1 here in Australia) sitting in front of the worlds largest trans flag. Photo taken by the wonderful @supakaity. Today is 9 years since I came out to my then 11 year old kid, and tomorrow is 9 years since I started medically transitioning. I was 41 years old then. Trans awareness was just on the upkick. Everyone knew Caitlyn Jenner. Laverne Cox had appeared on the cover of TIME magazine… Yet I was still th...

It's my local parkruns 10th anniversary tomorrow! I didn't start running it until its second year, but I've been there ever since! And that means I've been parkrunning for over 10 years, though that slipped by my in August without me realising at the time! I'm still amazed at the impact parkrun has had on me. I took it up because I had finished C25K, and a parkrun started where I would run every Saturday morning anyway. I assumed it would be full of super fast runners,...

Here is (most of) my lifetime of running, as shown in TrainAsOne over 11 years. It started when I was 39, and shows up until now, when I'm 50. It includes two bouts of pneumonia, three surgical recoveries, covid lockdowns, and a hormonal gender transition. What's facinating to me though is that my current total load is almost equal to what it was when I was at the peak of my running form, and my acute (short term) load is higher than it was back then! The second image shows the chan...

Another week of running down! 16 weeks left until my HM. This week, I had a slightly easier week than last week. Just over 4 hours on my feet, 34km down. Aside from parkrun and a single Tabata run on Tuesday, it was all slow training miles. Next week should pick up the pace a bit, with more speedwork planned! One of the challenges with my running is that I'm carrying more weight than I want to at the moment, which is making it harder to hold pace, as I tend to overheat more than I should...

No parkrun tomorrow! We had to cancel our event due to unexpected machinery blocking our path. But as the ED, I'm going to still go anyway so that anyone who missed the social media and email notifications isn't just left wondering where everyone is. #parkrun

10km done and dusted! My first 10km in 18 month, since I did the Bridge to Brisbane in 2024. A long way from when I used to run 10km everyday, but that was chasing away demons, but equally, a long way from not running at all! #running #workout #TrainAsOne

My week in running Just under 40K in total for the week. I started with parkrun and a couple of shorter interval style runs, and finished the week with a 9km and 10km run. Next week is looking to be similar! #parkrun #running #workout #TrainAsOne

Sorry, Uruguayans, but I think I prefer Argentine mate. My mum just got her hands on a Uruguayan blend (Abuelita), so I had to try it. The finer cut of the yerba makes for an interesting experience. The first mouth full almost felt like a kick in the teeth, it was so full on! It settled down after that, but the fine cut also makes it harder to just casually sip at. It feels like an effort to get that water flowing throught bombilla #mate #uruguay #argentina #yerbamate

#mate #uruguay #argentina #yerbamate
