It's my local parkruns 10th anniversary tomorrow! I didn't start running it until its second year, but I've been there ever since! And that means I've been parkrunning for over 10 years, though that slipped by my in August without me realising at the time! I'm still amazed at the impact parkrun has had on me. I took it up because I had finished C25K, and a parkrun started where I would run every Saturday morning anyway. I assumed it would be full of super fast runners, and didn't really have a sense of there being a meaningful running community. And yet, here I am 10 years later, still running, still volunteering. Even when I've been injured, or recovering from surgery, or simply didn't have my running mojo, I'd still turn up at parkrun. 303 runs at 34 different parkruns, across 2 countries. 211 volunteers across 16 distinct roles. Event Director - 81 times, Run Director - 41 times across 2 different parkruns, Photographer - 18 times, and then Pacer, Event Setup and VI Guide 13 times each, and a scattering of other roles. I even transitioned during my parkrun career, whilst being an active run director at my first parkrun. I believe I may have been parkruns first openly transgender run director, but I'm not certain of that. To say that parkrun has been a big part of my life is probably understating it! #parkrun #running #trans #transgender
