I'm an oldish autistic, which blessed me with the ability to think clearly and write well. I'm also a secular humanist and I think God is too. Never doubt the power of irony.

I boost pictures of animals, plants, structures, landscapes, water (always water, and boats!) but right now it is mostly politics - the threats to everything good can not be underestimated. I would like to go back to writing about obscure kites as soon as the deeply stupid people are out of power. Please help.

"Straight of Hairmooze" It is not cool to make fun of people, unless they are really awful monsters who hurt others for their casual amusement. The guy who made up this name for the potential Trump wig, nailed this moment. https://www.comicsands.com/trump-new-wig-names

Tell me when you can smell the Republican on this guy: Bob Simril, former candidate for Portland City Council is leading the Enhance Community Safety Initiative - a ballot measure to divert 25% of the funds in the Portland Clean Energy Fund into a push to hire 400 more Portland Police Officers. The initiative was submitted with 63k signatures out of 40k needed, but after blank lines, duplicates, and nonresidents were removed, 34k were deemed valid. Backers immediately condemned the process.

The chairmaggedon. The little known lesser plague of the Apocalypse, the plague of excess chairs. 1/2 I have been bringing good furniture into my new apartment from next to the dumpster, and looking on craigslist for free firewood (I have a fire place now!) and the single most numerous used or free thing people are getting rid of is chairs. After I moved I brought a chair with me, then bought 2 more, 1 for the balcony, 1 for camping. Now I have added 5 more, each nicer than the last.

@transworld@masto.ai This is a school library, but it begs the question for any library: If a truly conservative community has procedures so they can have influence over their public institutions, would you as a librarian compromise the integrity of the library so the community at least had some sort of library? Or close it, a compromised library is no library at all?

Have you noticed that chocolate is both ridiculously expensive and you are getting less than ever! I'm blaming Trumpflation. Trumpflation is the additional mark up that a chaotic fool that definitely never earned their influence over a global supply chain adds to everyone's costs, through incompetence, malevolence, or grift. We don't grow chocolate beans in the US. I don't know who Trumplethinskin has a beef with now, but it is driving up the cost of my Herseys bars.

"Do you know something I don't", he shouted, clearly trying to shut her down. She draws on her experience as a professional reporter to explain why her question was valid. In the mean time I am shouting at the radio, "YES, Yes, we all do!! The NUMBER OF THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW COULD FILL A DOZEN SILOS! YOU WAKE UP AND INVENT NEW THINGS TO BE ABYSMALLY WRONG ABOUT!! YOU HAVE MORE INTELLIGENCE RESOURCES THAN ANY ONE MAN ALIVE AND YET YOU CONTINUE TO BE WRONG AND SURPRISED AB...

Thoughts during my first break at work: 'A boiled egg. Boy these are rubbery. How many foods do you eat that are rubbery? Wait, are all foods that we eat rubbery for some degree of rubbery? Cheese is rubbery. Grapes are rubbery. Hmmmm cheese.' Homer Simpson style drooling for rest of break.

@jaykuo@universeodon.com the day after Trump won his first election I went to work, turned to a friend and said "Well," then did a slow pan of our work place where a large number of Vietnamese women where slowly aging out of the work force to be replaced by mostly Hispanics solderers, and said "how many of these people can you fit in your attic?" 2016, I was able to make an Anne Frank joke because we had elected the most ignorant and bigoted president in history, and everyth...

Of you are anything like me, there is an age where the best thing is a day with plenty of fresh air, the barest hint of a breeze, and the absolute best temperature ever. And you just marvel at it. You are caught telling your slightly younger friends, "Isn't this just the best temperature ever!" and they act like, "yeah, it is air dude, we got things to do.." But honestly, there is nothing better than to stand still and marvel at how good the absolutely best temperature...

The last time I bought a physical ticket was to an air show. Buying tickets to stuff was so rare in my life that I never found it inconvenient. Every time I have bought a virtual ticket, and got spam in my email for the next year, and had to give their app a lot of access to my phone otherwise the damn virtual ticket wouldn't work, well I never liked those experiences. I think the necessity of being forced to buy a virtual ticket keeps me from going to many ticketed events.

What homelessness teaches us in the United States is that you do not have the right to exist unless you can sell yourself to the capitalist class. Rights in the US are only things that the government can't take away from you or has to provide for you if they are detaining you (so you can't provide them for yourself). So a right to food, housing, health care - basically meaningless. You can pursue them, by selling your time. And we will all eventually depreciate.

After the last search engine was replaced by AI: "Thank goodness AI came along when it did. A whole generation was dangerously close to learning interesting facts from other people, and not from corporately controlled sources." "Thank you Smithers. Now escort yourself out. Sycophanty™ Bot has replaced you, you're fired."
